It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

It's called an option. Having options. Like, more than one possible way to do something. The option to have GOGs downloader may not be the best available, but so what? Options are like the exact opposite of DRM.
The award of most ridiculous non spam thread of the year goes to this one.

I mean seriously now. They're all Windows games or Windows versions. Are they supposed to go in and heavily modify source code so that they run on non-windows platforms or so they don't require directX?

The only thing I could see as valid is that it's xp/vista/7 only without support for Win95/98 which many games were made for. Then again, who's still using 95/98 as a main os? And if you are, you most probably have the original install discs and the games therefore run perfectly.

No no, there's no drm here.

No.

I would say more, but anyone with a halfway logical mind can surely figure out the justification behind my response.

They're not though: that's the thing. A lot of the games run in dos but you need to run the proprietary extractor to open them up. Shrug, I guess I'm wrong.
You need the internet to download the games, therefore THE INTERNET IS THE DRM. Z0MGAWD.

Really? :P
Hilarity ensues.

I LOVE GOG! Thanks for the good morning lollage... Totally made my day XD

nondeplumage: ZOMG and the publishers that put their games in boxes were DRM for people without hands! :-O

And televisions are DRM for the blind!

And keyboard-screen interaction is DRM for people without hand-eye coordination!

It's a conspiracy!
I love you so much.

No offense :), but code yourself one if you don't like using proprietary software. ;)

Is it that much of a hassle to install the game then copy the installed folder to a hard drive containing a dos partition or to a windows 95/98 machine? You could easily use a cd-rw for your old real dos box. You have to be reasonable here as to what drm is. This is not.
