To become a true GOGanite? As a new member here I have to say I enjoy the gog community forums. They're more classier than your typical video game ones. But unfortunately I've noticed most of the community events involve the use of Social Media websites. Now that could be just GOG getting the word out there, which is fine by me. Or it could also be like every other video game forum out there, where they force Social Media websites down your throat. I hope it is the former and not the latter reason.

But I won't know for sure until some of the experienced Goganites respond back.
Hey Vicious (love you avatar)

Twitter has been used in GoG promotions of late but also FB aswell. Most of the interactions are done within the confines of the community forums.

In other words, this is where all the action is at :D
They are trying to get the word out.

It was brought up during the "Find the Hero" competition that it was unfair if Twitter/Facebook accounts were required for entry, but they had already planned a "segment" of the competition which didn't - for those people who wanted to enter but didn't have such accounts.
I don't Twitter or Facebook - I certainly don't feel I am missing anything.

Off topic - I do however have my son playing Dragon Age: Legends so I can get the in game items ;-)
Not using Twitter will make it hard to enter most of their giveaways, but that doesn't mean much to me, I don't use Twitter and the chance to win a game wouldn't change it.

I actually have tried to make some limited use of Twitter a few times and I just got pissed off at the whole platform. I hate MyFace with a passion (both of them) so would never use it, though I hear it's a great way to hook up, so maybe I should reconsider my stance:)
You know what they say. You can't spell Twitter without twit.
Twitter is fun. I've gotten to know many people through it.
If you have to explain the joke in parenthesis immediately after making it, it's probably not a good joke.

And GoG is just trying to get the word out, same as every other company that uses Twitter. Anything of importance is announced here and with more detail.
I got a Twitter mainly to get updates easier from a couple of people/companies.

They don't force you to use social media, but they do make a lot of competitions dependent on using them. Then it's up to you if you want to participate or not. I choose not to, and I know I'm not alone. But then, they also make a lot of competitions that don't depend on them, so I'm okay with it.
I have grown to tolerate and now even use Twitter daily ever since that GoG competition. I'd say it is not so bad. I still can't bring myself to Facebook, though.

I just can't follow what's going on, the interface enrages me. I know people use tweetdeck and crap, but if I need a third party tool to make sense of your service, perhaps your service blows.

It's the latter, and I hate it. I have been with GOG for a long time, for better or for worse, and I daresay I have purchased more titles than the average user, and yet I am forced to use Twitter if I want access to the best deals from GOG? I understand they want to encourage new users, but it feels cheap to force existing customers to help them "Trend" in return for the good sale price.

Exactly what deal did you not get unless you used Twitter/Facebook? I'm not aware of anything you miss out on other than contests and maybe some announcements.
