It's probably just a joke. As usual, Police resources (aka taxpayer dollars) will be thrown out the window on an investigation that could be done by Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Might be a joke, but it would be naive to think that this sort of thing doesn't happen all over the world on a daily basis. That's right, this exact sort of thing is happening for real right now as I type this and as you later read this.

I think the police do the wrong thing about 80% of the time, but they'd be pretty damned negligent to not at least investigate this. It doesn't waste a massive amount of money unless they prosecute something that shouldn't be prosecuted, and if that happens it's normally the DA's fault.
Digga, please. You call this duct taping your child?

This is real: http://daddytypes.com/archive/duct_tape_baby_mianro.jpg

;D

To be serious, in my photo, baby is clearly unaware of what's going on, so I assume this is harmless joke, toddler will not even remember later.

In case you posted, this child duct taping took as a serious and severe punishment, and is clearly suffering, that kinds of situation should not take place in any sane family. These parents clearly do not love their kid.

Maybe he got the idea after watching Casino.

Of course, that didn't end up going so well for the character in that film.
It's funny how society can change in just 20 years.

When I was 8 or 9, our teachers would still beat us among other things. I was once duct-taped to my chair because I wouldn't sit still, had duct-tape put over my mouth because I talked to a friend in class, been suspended by my pants on a hook hanging me two feet off the ground, had to hang from a high railing in gym class for half an hour using just my hands (not allowed to use feet for support), my knuckles were beaten bloodily for daring to touch an old-fashioned scale on the teacher's desk, patches of hair got pulled out on several occasions, etc. etc. And we're talking about most teachers I had back then. They considered it perfectly normal.

*devil's advocate mode on*

So today, it's illegal and horrible because it causes "distress to the child". Sure, I can see physical beatings as being a bad thing (although I insist that giving them a spanking should be allowed) but kids these days are quite something - partially because of society, partially because of parents being too soft. Heck, I don't think taping is that big a punishment - I'd have much preferred it over the punishments I did get. Woo, a little tape around my wrists, legs and mouth, woo soooo horrible *rolls eyes sarcastically*. Leaving her there for a day would be overdoing it, but say it was an hour - it will teach her a lesson not to hit her father, and it doesn't cause any permanent damage. Kids aren't Faberge eggs, you know - they can withstand far greater stress than this.

Heck, I think the stress of the modern school system does a lot more mental damage because of pressure to succeed, to be better than expected, even at the age of 7 - but of course, let's not mention that! I still have dreams TEN YEARS since I left uni of failing my exams, forgotten to study.

jefequeso: I can't get to the site, but is everyone certain that this wasn't just a really poorly conceived joke? Seems to me that it would take an abnormally stupid person to post something like that on Facebook if it were real.

Seems like a very dumb joke to me. Very dumb in the sense of where he decided to tell it.
The story is on Fox, so obviously it never happened.
