I cant run it in short, apparently in missing a binkw32.dll.

I have reinstalled about 6 times in the past few weeks, and google doesny want to find it. the tech support emailed me to say part of the message was cut off so i replied with the full message and havent heard back in 3 weeks.

Any help.

That's part of the Bink movie player IIRC. You might want to check the Bink video website to see if you can find the files.
I think its just...

Download this.... http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?binkw32

And place the .dll in the directory where your jade empire.exe (or what ever its called) is

I had this happen on my laptop, Pretty sure this is the way i cured it, Also it may of needed another .dll but it was easy to find
Try finding the file on your computer. It's probably corrupted and that's what's stopping you from being able to install a clean, working version of the file. Then follow Maxxer's advice and that should solve it.

I downloaded the file, extracted it to:
C:\Program Files\Jade Empire
Where the JadeEmpire application is but it shows the same error

I take-it you mean the file in JE only, a search has come up with 231 of them in the whole Pc?

Have you tried reinstalling the game to another location? Despite being the universal default directory, installing games into Program Files can cause some problems.

Ill try that, I just tried running the configuration thing, that doesnt work either
Ok so I got it removed but the Autorun Launcher application doesnt do anything, neither does the Setup Jade Empire Installer And the Mastertronic Setup. Now[preload] loops, you can accept the T's and C's, it will ask if you want asistance and then it says to click install again, round and round.

FFS why is nothing simple

Edit: copied the files onto a desktop folder and they seem to work now.

I hate all these older games that require weird video codecs or even players. That's going to be a real pain in the ass when trying to run these 20 years from now.

The original Mafia requires some video player that is no longer freeware and you have to download some ancient XP version.

Well installing it to C:\JadeEmpire worked once. Tried it a second time and it says the DLL is missing again but the one Maxxer linked to works, just have to dump it in each time I want to play it
*Grrrr

Anyway thankyou for the help guys Solution goes to Nav. a + vote for everyone else.

Wut? That has to be the strangest thing... Why the hell would it keep deleting it? Because having the necessary dll would simply be too convenient?

You might want to ask their support about that. I know they weren't much help before, but there's got to be a very specific reason it's doing that.

Well I did that and got a very swift reply (sent DxDiag as they ussually ask and a vid clip as proof)
The gist of what they said was dunno, not our problem, an issue with your machine.

A Blink hating virus maybe?

That was my first thought but did full scans after a forced anti-virus update and turned up ONE tracking cookie.
Also all other games work fine its just the file for JE. I also scanned the HDD incase of bad sectors or something, but its fine.

Just out of curiousity. If it works to drop it in there for one go, then it disappears. Have you tried dropping it into your Windows\System32 folder? Lots of DLL's go in there. The game should definately check if the DLL is in that folder if it isn't in the game folder.
If you're running Vista or 7, the game would also have a hard time deleting the .dll unless you give it administrative privileges.

I recall the Quake collection I got on CD. Quake 1 would refuse to startup hardware accelerated. Turns out the shipped opengl.dll file is in fact a 3dfx version of the file. Deleting it from the game folder will make Quake read the file in system32, which works for your computer. Just a suggestion.
