An LP of Sorcerian (this one) at SA drew my attention to a couple of Japanese online... ehh.. places featuring old games.

Would anyone with Japanese knowledge explain how those things work, do they work, is there more of them, and is there anything worth a damn for a non-Japanese speaker there and how to find it? I just randomly stumbled into Hydlide 2 with English screenshots.

I checked out the EGC page. They actually have an "about" page and registration page in English:

It looked interesting but unfortunately it is a monthly subscription service. You have to pay a monthly fee for the service and then pay for whatever games you want. Though there are some games that are free (無料).

I can't imagine it would be useful if you can't read Japanese since all the games are old Japanese games.

Vector appears to be a regular online store for games, like Amazon.

Vector is a legit digital distribution site that has been around for quite a while now. That's... all I know about it.
