Out of all the games you list, I think it resembles Div Div the most, its not hack n slash like Diablo, the combat is just fun and varied, also the faction quests would be in a similar vein to some of the Div Div stuff.

I really liked KoA, I logged 200+ hours in it, the combat is really good fun with many classes and hybrid combinations. Even the DLC is quite good and well written, it is a world with a very deep lore, also well written.

Each area has hidden stones, that when activated, elaborate on a story connected with that area.

There are also Factions that you can do quests for and those quests are quite well done too.

The main story isn't War and peace by any means, but it more than suffices, to hang a really fun game upon.

It has crafting, but as it's Slavage System is a bit random, it may take a few successive reloads to get the perfect equipment result, but you will get great gear with a modicum of patience.

The GFX are like a cross between WoW and Fable, I like them, YMMV.

You can respec your character at will for a modest fee.

The bad. Combat is easy ....BUT is is FUN. eg. Use your Rogue (Finesse) skills to lay traps, then nuke the enemies held in the traps wit your sorc skills, or pepper them with volleys of arrows.
The XP rewards are not well judged, you will hit level cap long before you reach the end of the game. even without the DLC.

I would suggest play the main storyline first or last and just do the faction/DLC stuff as a seperate playthrough.

I played it on PC at release and subsequently bought a copy for my 360 for €20, to play it from the couch on a big screen TV, I think its 20 bucks well spent, if you decide to get it.
Its a HUGE game, if you do all the side quests as well as the story ones you can get around 200 hours play out of it. Some bits can be a little boring, go kill something big in a dungeon then the follow up quest will be the same again sort of thing. I am still playing through it months later, its REALLY good.

Combat it fantastic, very similar to the Fable games in all honesty where you can lock onto enemies and launch your attacks. Thing is though you can mix things up so easily during combat, hit another target with something like lightning while hitting something else with your melee weapon. You also have a special reckoning power that charges up during combat sessions, ideal for taking out tougher enemies, bosses and large groups. Once activated time slows down and you can hit them hard in this mode thinning their numbers, it flows so well.

If you like third person action RPG's then it is well worth getting, I would also check the price on EA Origin before Amazon as it was cheaper direct from them when I got it.

Also I would recommend using a gamepad whilst playing, makes life much easier and everything is mapped just right.

On a side note, you must have an EA Origin account to be able to play this game. It requires a one time only verification of the key. After that you can run it direct without Origin running in the background from the games installation directory.
I didn't like this game. It felt too generic and really had a lot of the bad elements of an MMO: poor story, poor NPC interaction, unimaginative setting, very grindy feel of combat, no real "living" world, etc. For a single player game without getting to play with others, it's just too weak if you ask me.
I've seen some people mention the demo, dont base your opinion on that, iirc the devs didnt want to release it or somethng, it was cobbled together with weird gfx glitches and bits of different levels, but is definately not represenative of the actual game, I encountrered no bugs or glitches whatsoever during my time with the full game.

I found the game pretty rewarding. I agree with most that it feels a lot like a Fable game, though more polished than Fable 3. The combat is pretty fluid, the magic spells are really fun and you have a lot of flexibility with building your character. I will say that it seemed WAY too easy to get overpowered, and as a caster I found my higher level spells would wipe a screen full of enemies, making combat really boring later in the game. I'm not one complain about video games being "too easy" often, but the balance really seemed off once your character starts learning the top tier skills in any class.
And the story, well... the story kinda sucks. It's bland and generic, the characters aren't believable or memorable, and there is little to no depth in the characters or story itself.

All complaints aside, however, I did still happily log a good 75 hours or so in, and I had a lot of fun doing it. If you're looking for an RPG so you can "play a good novel," this isn't exactly the ideal in terms of story... but all in all, it's a fun game.

I've played it though and thought it was quite alright as an action rpg. It didn't remind me of Fable or DA. Both of those are much better games in my book. Combat in KoA is a bit repetitiv but still fun. The Quests are ok, but like others said neither the characters nor the story was very gripping. The one thing I didn't like was the fov, which was a tag to narrow for my liking, but you can change that using widescreenfixer. Overall I would say it's an ok game, that can be fun, but doesn't stand out through.
Wow!!!

Even MORE great feedback. THANK YOU ALL so very much.

I think I'm gonna go ahead and get it, but I'm gonna do what the poster above suggested (thanks Coelocanth!) and wait for an even better deal. If I can get the DLC with the game for $19.95 that would be better, although I've found myself not playing a lot of the DLC content I do get. Still rather have it and not want it, than want it and not have it. I'm gonna wait for some better deals.

lol, I have NEVER, in the last 10 years at least, purchased a game at full price. I can't even recall paying over $29.95 for one, and that was one I wanted badly as I usually wait until they get below $20. I know some folks feel like that's not supporting the developers or whatever, and if they'd rather not have my $20 that's fine too, I have others to play. But as long as games do usually come down I always wait. I'm too poor to pay top dollar for video games. Don't know what's up with Skyrim though. I really thought that would've come down by now, and it has barely budged. Maybe Bethesda doesn't my 20 bucks. Oh well, I'll find someone else who will gladly take it I'm sure.
I got Skyrim for €20 in PC World.

As regards Amalur, the devs are gone, they wont get jack shit of whatever you pay, so its immaterial where you get it or what you pay, if your only concern is the devs,

The DLC for Amalur is pretty good and has some cool lore, but again, you wont be getting XP more than likely, when you play it, but as I said, its good lore value.
Kingdoms of Generica: Boringness is more like it. I played the demo and shut it off after 15 minutes into it. The fact that it was supposed to be an MMO (which i hate) and then got turned into an RPG later on certainly did not help it.
i played the demo twice on thre console, i want to buy it badly.... but im waiting for an ultra sale or some kind DRMFree patch which ever comes first... this is one of my "must plays" so its looking like i'll get a console copy black friday
