reaver894: Tomorrows headlines from cnn.

The US did not capture an Iranian bomber and crash it into the presidentual palace killing the leadership of Iran forcing elections and a real diplomacy.

I wish... some politicians should be shot when they take a political oath.
Sorry mate, but that's one of the dumbest things I've read all day.

Corrupt dictatorships don't suddenly become peace loving democracies simply by taking out a couple of leading figures. All that happens is a sudden lack of stability, which is then capitalized upon by the nearest ruthless wannabe war lord. It gets even worse if you then go and give weapons to said wannabe warlord like we did in Libya. And when you say "forcing elections" you seem to imply that they wouldn't vote for an ultra conservative anti American government as they are in the process of doing in Egypt and Libya. They almost certainly would, despite what CNN might try to have you believe.

Titanium: As usual, someone was caught in the crossfire when two or more countries decide to compare the length and rigidness of their penises.

I'm going to quote this, since it's obvious that this thread needs more dick and less dick joke.

Internet IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?!

....Oh, wait, was it supposed to spell penes? Penii?

You spelled it correctly, it's simply one of the most atrocious metaphors I know... and this comes from a guy who doesn't shy away from rape analogies.
In fact - I guess that the figures of speech I hate the most are implicit accusations of sinfulness. The "penis measuring" one deals with pride... but has frequently been used to show disapproval towards ANY and ALL competition, comparisons and judgement.
Guess what - in defining play, competition traditionally has been an important factor. This notion has been even further reinforced in contemporary gaming. What truly pisses me off is that there's nothing stopping someone using his "verbal penises" from applying them to gaming almost universally.

It's closely tied to championing mediocrity - a sour grapes mechanism used by people with little to no skills to make them feel better about themselves by making fun of those better than them. See also: "having no life" as a common means of downplaying awe by replacing respect with contempt.

I know all of this is offtopic as hell but that's how I roll sometimes...

I...am actually in support of this post.
:D

I actually agree with you on that one, and would love to always participate in thoughtfull and interesting topics, but this being the internet and all...

Also, a bit more on topic:
Iranian nuclear scientist killed in a planted car bomb assassination.
This happened almost a year after a fellow scientist was killed in his car after a motorcycle with a planted bomb exploded next to him. Iran is getting plastered pretty hard, I wonder how they'll react. Hopefully with less head chopping and more west-denouncing.

I know, it was thinly masked sarcasm as to how I felt cnn might cover the story with some artistic license thrown in for free.

I was also a little drunk >.>

cjrgreen: Well, if you want the members of this forum to tear you a new one for laughing about a man on trial for his life before a kangaroo court, then maybe you could start by explaining what the hell you think is laughable about it.
-_-
At the Iranian court, not the man's life. The fact he is being tried for something we consider free speech over here is ridiculous. Then again, rationale isn't what Iran is famous for.

Phooey, it's funny like the Spanish Inquisition was funny in the 15th Century.

Isn't espionage is one of biggest offence that warrant death penalty in some country?

Well, yeah, espionage is traditionally a capital offense, in countries that are barbarous enough not to have disowned the death penalty altogether. But the "espionage" in this case seems to have consisted of distributing computer games that could be considered propaganda. Whatever believable facts there may be in this case, it is clearly a show trial or an attempt to exact concessions.
