I like Lady Gaga. She references video games in her videos, as well as quenten tarantino movies as good books, like Dune.
I don't care if you don't like her, but I do think it's funny how some of you are automatically going like "lol, HECK NO TO TECHNO" and "ZOMG boobs is stupid."
Here is the answer to OP's question:
http://www.theonion.com/articles/lady-gaga-kidnaps-commissioner-gordon,17789/
GOTHAM CITY—Supervillain Lady Gaga brazenly abducted Commissioner James Gordon from a charity fundraiser Tuesday, leaving police baffled and the citizens of Gotham fearing for their safety. Known for her outlandish costumes and geometric polygon hair, the criminal madwoman made a daring escape from Arkham Asylum last week and has been taunting authorities by interrupting television broadcasts ever since. "If you ever want to see Commissioner Gordon again, you'll do exactly as I say," Lady Gaga said from her secret lair, adjusting her angular yellow Tyvek and spandex dress as henchmen danced menacingly around the bound commissioner. While the kidnapping occurred at stately Wayne Manor, home of playboy jet-setter Bruce Wayne, the eccentric billionaire was not available for comment.
I didn't say she is terrible, I just said that the Alejandro video is creepy, almost to a fetish level.

Jesus, that vid is creepy. Any kind of fetish, especially bondage, freaks me out, so it was kinda hard to keep watching. I turned it off at around the 4:30 mark because I just couldn't take it anymore. It seems Lady Gaga is just an attention whore. "If I act weird/disturbing, people will notice me!"

Wishbone: Lady Gaga basically built her career on two concepts: "How weird can I look?"

So did Brian Hugh Warner, and while he may not be as outrageous that Lady Gaga (Okay, maybe a bit more), he is WAY better.
On topic...Who wants to make a wager on how long she has left to live in the media before becoming another Billy Ray Cyrus?
hahaha.. you old farts.
Just kidding :) I'm just still too much immersed in pop culture to be actively aware of the fact that there are people living in modern societies who haven't seen at least one of her videos. Can't say I find them particularly disturbing. It's too much *intended* to shock to actually shock..
But I think her videos+outfits are the only things she's got going for her. Even though it's getting old already, she actually stirred things up a bit. I find her music extremely bland. Pretty much the emptiest of pop with a different theme.

sauvignon1: This is why I stick to King Crimson, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Yes, ELP, Porcupine Tree, Gorillaz, Daft Punk, etc. Those last two aren't like the others, but who cares.

Whiteblade999: Too bad a lot of the younger generation hasn't heard of these bands. Aside from the last 3 all of them are phenomenal and actually helped shape my interest in music.

The younger generation hasn't heard of Daft Punk? What the hell are you smoking?

And how do you know? Have you asked young people who actually care about music? Probably not. You'd be surprised how many know and listen to older music.

LordCinnamon: I like to think of myself as a young person and I know Genesis, Pink Floyd, Gorillaz and Daft Punk. I don't know what you're trying to say here. Unless you replied to the wrong person or something, because I was trying to point out that yes, I'm pretty sure the majority of the young people would know about Daft Punk or Gorillaz or whatever.

Thanks to Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, many youngsters nowadays have been exposed to good (for the most part) ol' music.

I sort of meant to *add* to your point by replying. Didn't really come across the way I meant it to, apparently :p In the end it was a reply to Whiteblade.

I was intrested in this Daft Punk group after reading your posts. I listened some of their songs and didn't like it. There are more creative artists, like DJ Tiesto etc.

Most of her videos border on fetish.
I thought using Nazi symbolism as entertainment shock value died a long time ago. It wouldn't be so bad if Lady Gaga was actually talented. She's a show pony and nothing more.
The lame kind, where it pains you to watch. (to keep it balanced, Pink is talented, and a performer - neither Gaga or Pink are my cup of tea, musically, but the difference is astounding)
My pick for raw, young talent is Christina Aguilera. She can sing, dance and "looks marvelous". There seems to be no limitations on her ability to cross over genres belting out any song she chooses. One of the few singers that I expect to see around for years . . . =)
Edit: I believe she plays every female character in that video as well . . . could be wrong on that.

Unfortunately for daft punk much of what made them unique is now over copied by others so they sound samey and uncreative.
