Higurashi no Naku Koro, Particularly the first season from what I remember, it has been a while though.
Helsing Ultimate, more so as the series goes on, It's also a pretty damn good anime over all.
I was under the impression that most anime was pretty bloody and violent. I've seen very little anime, but the few that I have seen, I've liked a lot. One was Berserk, and the other was Samurai X Trust and Betrayal, I believe (both subtitled not English dub versions). Are those considered violent?

Elvin37: Shigurui is also pretty gory some guy ripped out his intestines cause he wanted to cancel some tournament or something where they were using real swords
Heh. Anime logic.

Anime is the same as any other form of television. There's the bloody & violent, comedies, drama, romance, sports, porn, wacky hijinks, etc. You can find a show that'll fit pretty much any desire under the sun.
Among my favorites:

Ninja Scroll, Hellsing, Berserk, Fist of the North Star, Devilman (hard to find), and Gantz.
Elfen Lied
Blood-C
Deadman Wonderland
King Of Thorn
Shiki (especially the last episodes)
Highschool Of The Dead

and although I haven't watched Mirai Nikki, the very few scenes I have watched they always were really gore...
I liked high school of the dead despite the bouncing anime boobies. I"d add a few more to the list:

1)Berserk
2)Samurai x:trust and betrayal

The most gratuitously violent anime ever IMO is Elfen Lied.....

Fomalhaut30: These might be a bit too tame for you, but they are pretty violent, iirc...

Basilisk
Claymore
Afro Samurai
Tenjho Tenge (been a LONG time since I've watched it, but the manga is very violent)
High School of the Dead
Trinity Blood
Deadman Wonderland

Another perhaps? But to be honest I found it boring.

Total Eclipse if you also like mecha. Can't comment on the violence, other than it got the black screen treatment... And as I don't like mecha that much, it too bored me enough to stop watching after the 3rd episode.

Another was really soft, some gore in the last episode though, but that anime was one my favorites... :)
As for Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse, I watched the second episode uncensored, and it was really sad dramatic gore... if you watched it, you know what I'm talking about... ;)

Berserk?
Ultra-violent anime, huh. I never understood why some people like gore for the sake of gore, but I'm not here to judge. I'll just give some extra imput on some of the mentioned ones as a story-driven person who doesn't care much about gore. I also don't know what "M.D Geist" is (and from the comments, I'd probably prefer to keep it that way), so take my words with perspective.

Berserk is awesome, once you get past the "huge guy/killing machine with an even bigger sword cutting people in 2" idea. I really like the characterization and story there.

Elfen lied also has a decent story, even if incomplete on the anime, and if you like blood you'll get plenty of it.

I can't recommend Blood+, the first episode was awesome but it just goes downhill from there (and there are 52 total). Plus, despite the title, I don't remember a particularly big amount of red colored liquid around.

Higurashi can get more brutal, specially because it contrasts heavily with the light hearted comedy the rest of the show is based on. The mix really works.

Hellsing has plenty of blood and the characters are very interesting. Nothing like an immortal vampire to spice things up. Just make sure you watch the OVAs and not the older TV series.

Gantz is a series where human life means nothing, and you are never sure what is going on besides the fact that someone is going to die soon. I didn't quite like the anime version though.

Finally, Mnemosyne no musume-tachi. It's been a long time on this one, but I kinda remember some disturbing scenes there. Then again, when the setting pits immortal lesbians against insane "angels" set on devouring them, that's bound to happen.

It's been a long time since I used to watch anime, so I can't give the best recommendations. If you are considering manga, though, just let me know. I've read hundreds of those and still do, and I've come up with some pretty fucked up stuff.

You should read Yotsuba! to break your stereotypes.

Gunslinger Girl holds a special place in my heart. Ninja Scroll is good too.

koima57: Berserk?
While the anime isn't bad, I'd almost have to recommend the comic if somebody were to try and get into the series. Despite all of the violence and dark fantasy setting, there is actually really good characterization and artwork in the comic which is somewhat lost in all animated adaptations due to the faster pacing and the fact that they couldn't realistically get quite as detailed as the comic's artwork due to animation schedules, pricing, etc.

That said, the recent-most movie adaptation of the first part of the comic isn't bad.
