Hi all

I am familiar with editing the dosbox.conf files used in the GOG DOS games to allow me to change game settings (ie load the games setup.exe or similar) or to change the emulation settings.

I am not so familiar with how GOG does the Mac games. I want to try to set Ultima 6 to use MT-32 or General MIDI and don't quite know how to go about this. Has anyone had any luck playing with these settings?

I believe you need to right-click on the application and select "Show Package Contents", open the 'Contents' folder, open the 'Resources' folder, right-click on (I don't know the exact name) Ultima 6.boxer file and select "Show Package Contents", and there you should find a file labeled 'DOSBox Preferences.conf' that you ought to be able to edit. I hope that works out!

Thanks, that definitely gives me somewhere to start looking.
The "Mac" versions are using a standalone version of Boxer:
http://boxerapp.com

Boxer is basically DOSBox on autopilot with an interface that doesn't require you to learn operating an ancient OS. Boxer wraps up the games in "gameboxes", files with the .boxer extension. When you double-click a gamebox the main application is launched and it loads up the game and DOSBox settings from the gamebox.

What GoG is selling is Boxer Standalone apps, where the gamebox and a standalone version of Boxer are bundled as one file. You can take the gamebox out and run it in plain old Boxer and throw away th standalone app. When using plain Boxer you can easily edit the DOSBox configs by right-clicking the gamebox and choosing Show Package Contents.

How do you get to the gamebox? Right-click the app -> Show package contents and then in one of the sub-sub-sub-folders (I donÄt remember exactly anymore) you will find the gamebox. You can now either edit it right inside the app or take it out to play in plain Boxer, that is up to you.
