also since kan = look ni = you and hao = fine/good woulld ni kan hao = you look good?

It's ni hao kan.
Thanks for inviting me, in Mandarin, would be xie xie ning yao qing wo. A direct translation of it is explained as such: xie xie = thank you, ning = respectable way of saying "you", yao qing = invite, and wo = me. So yeah, you basically figured out most of it above ;)
