just watched a clip of Lords and Ladies, and seeing the guy playing have to finish off a couple of enemies first reminded me of how delicious the combat and sound in the first game are.
But personally I liked the show with the pink flamingo better, it was really disturbing, and always made me stop to listen.

klaymen: You can't fool the URL!
:D
URL...URL...never changes :P
No tvs is pretty disappointing. After watching some of the tv shows in Alan Wake, it made me realize that I was excited for tv shows in MP3 too

TheEnigmaticT: Edited the title. Please let's at least avoid profanity in the titles of posts, folks. ;)
You may want to make this requirement more prominent (unless it's in one of the stickies, but I don't think many people read those...)

Why is profanity in thread titles worse than in actual posts? Seems a little arbitrary to me.
Too bad i still cant play it. For some reason Rockstar pushed the release date here in Brazil into june, so i cant buy it at all. Even on Steam. Go figure why. Good thing i didnt pre order it, i would be very pissed if they delayed it when i had already pre ordered.

Mostly? Because I'd rather not have the forum full of links with curse words in them. SEO, basically.

Yes, I know the links don't change when I update the title. The hope is by politely asking people not to use profanity in the titles, they'll gradually stop.

gameon: um, i'm not sure if you responded to his question properly. He was saying how come swearing is not allowed in thread titles, yet hardly moderated in the individual posts that are included in those threads. Swear words are swear words, no matter where they are found......
SEO = search engine optimisation. He doesn't want a load of links to GOG having expletives in them.
avatar
Ballistic_Peanut: The lack of Lords & Ladies is an atrocity.
So, what actually happened to Lady Amelia?
avatar
gameon: But the threads contain expletetives. Ok so the thread titles will be clean, but if they are embarrased to have expletetives in searches, why do they allow it in normal conversation?
Because 99 times out of 100 people won't be google searching for forum threads. Nonetheless forum threads will appear in their search results. Therein the problem lies.

NO MORE MR. NICE GUY. GET THE MINIGUN AND FLAMETHROWER.

gameon: But if the same people join up, or read through the forum, they'd see all sorts of swearing.
You're underestimating the importance of first impressions.
avatar
gameon: i'm sorry, but what do you mean?
First time user's GOG experience:
1. Search for a game in Google.
2. Look through results. Find that GOG sell it.*
3. Go to GOG and buy the game.
4. Check out the forums and encounter some less than civil terms being thrown around.
5. But you've bought your game and it's nothing to do with those twats so you go and play that quite contented.

* This is the first impression. If it were a bad impression caused by thread titles about the game being like "Fuck this shitty game!" then you're probably not going to buy it from GOG even though it has nothing to do with GOG staff or their DD store.
avatar
gameon: Look at the CONTENT (not just the title that showed on google)
Yeah, but you actually searched for that. hence why both fuck and GOG were bold. Normally that would be a very rare occurrence.

gameon: Sure, but its possible. So it just strikes me as a bit of a bizarre rule not to allow swearing in titles due to search results....

Doesn't really matter though, like you said the sites all about buying games, swearing doesn't really matter. (whether people do or not)
Swearing do matter on a community site. If it's used too much it can degrade the community.
