BenKii: Steam only has the 1st and 2nd games ( the 3rd game is Origin exclusive). If you want all three games, Amazon has an Origin code for the trilogy on sale for $13.49 here.

As for which is better, PC is the best in my opinion. You can play through all these games and import your choices from game to game. On the PC however, if you make a mistake you can use a special program called gibbed save editor (link here) to alter the choices you made without having to go through the game again. The only pros the consoles have is if your PC can't run the 3 Mass Effect titles. If you do go consoles, get the PS3 version cause it contains more DLC than the Xbox version.

I can't speak for 2 & 3, but the first Mass Effect on PC is much better than the console version I have on 360.

You're in for a treat if you haven't played the series yet. Some of the DLC in the series is actually good but still quite expensive unfortunately. I recommend Kasumi and Shadow Broker for ME2, and Citadel & Leviathan for ME3, I actually enjoyed all the ME3 DLC but a lot of people hated Omega.

I actually purchased ALL the DLC for ALL 3 ME games on PC - have completed all of it in ME 1 and 2 - but haven't gone back to replay ME3 as of yet with the additional content... though have watched through Citadel... damn that's fanservice if I ever saw it! :D

Hehe i'm kinda embarassed to say I have too, I also bought all the Dragon Age: Origins DLC when each came out. Between Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins I think I spent as much as 1/3 my library on GOG.

Both Mass Effect 2 and 3 are somewhat the same on both systems but the deciding factor goes to the PC version of Mass Effect 1. The Xbox 360 version, even with the motion blur and film grain turned off and recent patch, is jus not up to snuff compared to the PC version.

I played and loved all of them on the PC.

Of course, the last one being on Origin is shitty, but it was worth it. And isn't there the trilogy pack out nowadays?

Citadel DLC is so fucking cool, had so much fun. It's certainly worth it!
I also bought all (story) DLCs for DA:Origins and the ME games, but I haven't bought them for DA2, since you can do that only with Bioware points and there aren't any discounts. So with the money I'd spend on them, I could buy lots of games on GOG :D
But at some point, I'll probably get them before playing DA2.

I'd say get the PC version, if only for the availability of hi-res textures mods. Also ME3 multiplayer had major stability issues on PS3, which I don't think it's ever been fixed, and gameplay in general is better with keyboard and mouse.

Beware that ME1 may have issues with recent Nvidia drivers though. My copy stopped working earlier this year and I haven't found a solution so far.

Mass Effect plays best on pc, especially the original. Btw you can buy a disc version that does not need any internet to play.

I've played ME1 and 2 on PS3, and never had any problems with them.

Glad you are gonna play this game. ME1 is one of my favorite games. Now are you gonna be a good shepard or a bad shepard? My first play through, I was a total ass (no surprise). "Makin' movies, makin' music and

The games all run excellently on PC, and you're able to get the complete experiences for each. The big deciding factor will be the controls. The games don't have native controller support on PC, so you're either stuck with keyboard/mouse, or you'll need to download custom config files that add it in. But even that doesn't fully solve the issue. The controller mod for 1 is imperfect, and doing it for 3 could get you banned from online multiplayer for perceived cheating.

If you need perfect controller support, stick to consoles. Otherwise the PC versions are the best.

PC definitely (it's really cheap now plus the game performances are quite good). If you find cheaper deals then try the 360 ,version cause the ps3 version was ported much later and ME1 and 2 have slight frame rate issues because they were ported much later and Bioware didn't polish it as much as they did the 360 version.

One thing though, the dlc's for the game must be bought on Bioware website itself with bioware points so that's pretty stupid.

I wouldn't even bother with a controller, Mass Effect played much more smoothly with a keyboard. It surprised me, for some reason I expected otherwise when I bought it.

I bought the trilogy on Amazon (Origin) and downloaded ME1, going to try it out here shortly!

I have to admit, I loved ME1, although parts of it could definitely use some improvement. Then I played ME2, and most of the things from ME1 that did need improvement, plus some that didn't, had been made worse or all-out replaced with something much worse. It took away any desire I might have had to buy ME3 once that came out.
