This is relevant to another problem I had back in 2009 (I'll link the topic later if it turns out to be relevant), but most of the games on DOSBox have problems with misaligned screens (the screen looks like it has been moved a bit too much to the right (or left in Superfrog's case)).

For the record, I run all of my DosBOX games on OpenGL with the "Keep Aspect Ration" command on (with fullscreen activated of course). This problem only seems to happen on my desktop computer which have a Viewsonic VG710b monitor (whose maximum resolution is 1280x1024)

A few of the DOSBox games I have don't have that problem. Here are they:
- Duke Nukem 3D
- Bioforge
- Earhworm Jim 1+2
- Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within
- Lands of Lore 1+2
- Might and Magic (1-5)
- One Whole Unit Blood
- Stonekeep
- Ultima Trilogy
- Ultima Second Trilogy
- Ultima Underwold 1+2
- Ultima 8 - Pagan

Note that most of them have a 2.0.0 installer (with the exception of Gabriel Knight 2).

Those who have that problems are:
- The Complete Ultima VII
- Betrayal at Krondor
- Dragonsphere
- Gabriel Knight (old graphic setup program)
- Jagged Alliance (old graphic setup program)
- Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games (oldgraphic setup program)
- King's Quest 4 + 5 + 6 (oldgraphic setup program)
- Realms of Arkania 1+2 (old graphic setup program)
- Realms of Arkania 3 (old graphic setup program)
- Realms of the Haunting
- Superfrog (misalign to the left instead of right)
- Teenagent
- Mean Streets (old graphic setup program)
- Martian Memorendum (old graphic setup program)
- Tyrian
- Under a Killing Moon (old graphic setup program)
- Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire
- Worlds of Ultima: Martian Dreams

Most of those games have the old 1.0.0 installer and in some cases, the old graphic setup program (which only let you choose the graphic mode). In the later case, the misalignment is even worse (the screen is a little too much down in addition to right). Some have their 2.0.0 installers (the freeware games) which is puzzling.

I have the same problem with every single ScummVM game I have (even though those were updated recently) and I have no idea which setting to change.

Thanks in advance for your help. If you need more info, just ask.

Going in your monitor's menu and selecting "Auto image adjust" when using the problematic resolutions should fix this. Press the button labeled "1" on your monitor to bring up the main menu, the first option should be the one you need, press "2" to select it.

Hey, it works!!!

Still, I wonder why it happens only with those games in particular. Did the guys at GOG managed to make a fix that they forgot to apply to their freeware releases?

It has nothing to do with software settings, your monitor simply needed to be calibrated to be used with the specific display resolution/refresh rate combinations those games use. There's no way GOG can do that for users. :)

And that, my friend, is one reason why we should migrate away from the analogue HD15/VGA connectors as fast as possible and onto digital ones such as DVI, DisplayPort, or even HDMI.

OK. Thanks.

Now, I feel a bit stupid to have accumulated all this data o which game it worked or not. And now, I know what kind of monitor I should look for.
