Hi everybody,
I am just curious if they even exist anymore. I dont say I grown fond of linear shooters, but when they feed them to you long enough, you will stop to care (in my case). But when I was replaying Duke3D I got craving for modern shooter but with non-linear gameplay. Anybody knows about anything?

EDIT : added picture to explain what I mean

Nope...

But i have been playing a lot of borderlands if that helps :P
BioShock is the only thing that comes to mind as sad as that is. Plenty of 3rd person open world games, but for FPS... Well I guess as Maxxor said, Borderlands might fall under it.

Or maybe STALKER? These are all kind of hybrid games though. Can't really think of a pure shooter like this.
Crysis series.
Far Cry series.
Stalker series.
Hey its a map of Doom's E1M6 :)

The ARMA series is probably a good non-linear game, but it's difficult to get into.
Butcher Bay falls into this category. The plot has some faults in it, but it gives you freedom to explore your surroundings while following a fixed plot, and you'll revisit a lot of areas too i.e. mostly interconnected hubs. There's still the "locked doors" syndrome, but not really noticeable too unless you go out of the way to find every one of them.

Well the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series is a non-linear FPS series, it has RPG elements like quests, loot and free roam but it all comes down to using guns Etc just like a FPS.

Crysis 1 is also a good bet since you tackle the objective in many different ways such as sneaking through the trees, sneaking in the water or just going in guns blazing.

Finally there is also Far Cry 2, fully free roam world, do what you want when you want, the only negative thing is the respawning guard posts but otherwise it's a decent game imo.

Edit: Ninja'd by Kavazovangel :P

Battlefield series (Except BC 2)?
SWAT 4?
Well its true I could try expansions for S.T.A.L.K.E.R are all as good as the original game? I plan to pick Butcher Bay in summer sale :). As for other games I already played them all :(.
Stalker. Get call of Pripyat now. Now, god damn it, now!

If by expansions you mean Clear Sky and Pripyat then, in Pripyat's case in particular the answer is a resounding yes. It's not an expansion by the way.

Just be careful where you get your copy of Clear Sky from. There's some nasty DRM at work in that one.

Well I plan to pick both at summer steam sale, since I already have STALKER from steam

Good call. Pripyat in particular is amazing. It's also the first game in the series that doesn't require any mods to really get the most out of it. But I do recommend Pripyat Complete, even if it's nowhere near as vital to the game as the previous Completes.
