I'm not too interested since I'm a big fan of the artstyle in CMI. It's just full of atmosphere for me. But if they wanna do that for MI4: Escape I say go ahead. :D

Well Monkey Island 3 was already in (beautiful) 2D...
But wow, I remember reading about this years ago, back when there was a demake competition going. Amazing he's still on it, he must be a real fan.
Or someone with OCD or something.

I would rather have a 2D remake of Monkey Island 4. I also liked CMI.

If they would extend the ending of CMI into what it was supposed to be, that would be great!

The graphics of the original MI3 are fine, but it always good to have an alternative version.

Sod the 2D remakes of MI4, give me the version thats been de-monkeykombatted. MI4 was a great game right up until that crap

I don't think it was such a bad thing. They were trying their best to find some interesting minigame that was also a parody of the games industry, bless their little misguided hearts. All in all, MI4 made me laugh so many times that I really couldn't bring myself to calling it an asshole for getting all cheap on me.

Stylistically I've always like how CMI looks. And honestly, that demake they're doing doesn't look that good in comparison to MI1 and MI2. They need to do a lot of work to make it work.

Some people are saying the backgrounds don't look as good as the first two...
I think it looks as good as the 256 colour version of SoMI, just not as good as MI2 (the backgrounds were drawn with markers and then scanned).

I can see what they were trying to do with it but it had 2 major flaws that meant it really should have been dumped from the game. Firstly it simply wasn't fun, maybe the first few times it was okay but by the time you figured out what to do it was an ordeal to endure rather than something to enjoy. Second, it wasn't funny. Insult swordfighting was something of a chore in places when you were trying to get that last couple of insults or replies but the ability to mix & match absurd responses let you make your own fun in a way that "he said eek, you know what'd be hilarious, saying ook!" just wasn't

Quite impressed with this to be honest, from the screenshots I didn't like the look of the graphics, but played properly they're pretty decent. Not quite up to the same level as the Monkey Island games themselves, but it's a fan project from one person so I'm not really surprised. There seemed to be a bug with the demo where Murray (and the arm with cutlass) never actually appeared outside the ship, meaning I couldn't cut the cannon restraint rope. Obviously a scripting bug with AGS somewhere.
