This is exactly as dumb and campy as the game, but I think it's the result of that horrendous attempt to make Mortal Kombat less about trans-dimensional awesome ass kicking and instead some stupid street fight with freaks.
1. Tis called "Mortal Kombat: Legacy".
2. Three episodes have been released so far.
3. Be sure to watch the uncensored versions of each episode, which iirc were scheduled to be posted yesterday in response to negative reaction to the initial censorship.
4. They're pretty damn good so far!!!
I'm really liking the fights so far. It's like a mix between natural reactions and brawling and choreographed stuff. Pretty cool. And it does sound like it's going back to the original multidimensional stuff with monsters instead of self-mutilated or diseased humans.

Me, too (about liking the fights). Both Jax vs. Kano uncensored (gory glory!) and the Cage rage were both fantastic.

Shang-Tsung seems to be using magic at the end of the third episode. It seems as if Legacy might stray further into fantasy than "Mortal Kombat: Rebirth". Tho it is the same director (and cast), so it's tough to tell.
Is Johnny Cage the guy that was on the XMA special on Discovery Channel or whatever however many moons ago? Where they did the 3D X-ray vision and stuff?

Not sure, but he gives the impression of being an actual martial artist. Check the Legacy entry on Wikipedia; there's prob a link to the page about the actor.

One thing that I didn't like was the shot that Sonya makes without turning around or so much as glancing at the guy on the floor. Just a little too much if you ask me, trying a little too hard to be cool. Doesn't kill the episode, but still no good.

It's bad. I like it. :)
I've only watched the first episode so far, and I consider this new series just crap. Dumb as much as an American TV series can be, just for the web. Hurrah...
@KingofGnG: The first episode is the weakest of the three. Also, it's not meant to be intellectual or artsy. Just fun. ;-)

Heck, that episode WAS NOT funny! At least the Mortal Kombat games have the fantasy factor, here I just see boring gun shots and stupid assholes kicking the empty air. Awkward and extremely dumb....
I look forward to it every week. I was hoping that it would stay realistic like the Rebirth trailer (the sneak peak of Baraka looks terrible compared to the trailer: http://cdn.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/mortal-kombat-legacy-baraka-570x299.jpg), but I'm a sucker for MK no matter what. I even consider the first movie a genuinely good action film and Annihilation is at least so bad that it's funny.

The first episode was pretty slow, but I love Tahmoh Penikett as Stryker (I actually met him at an expo in Calgary last year and he's a REALLY nice guy). Episode 2 is my favourite so far, just for what happens at the end of the fight between Kano and Jax.
