michaelleung: How is 30 fps crap? I must have missed the lesson where visual fidelity is somehow tied to how many times a game refreshes itself every second.
Thank you...

ATTN FPS junkies... Movies are 24 frames per second. They always have been, and they look great.

Some people like the look of 60 frames per second. Here's a good comparison between the two.

Massive difference between something you watch and something you play dude, especially with a fast mouse input.

Ninja'd...IO was gonna say to him to try using a cheapo mouse or even a better one in a fast paced multiplayer FPS with only 20-25 FPS....and watch as he keeps getting one-shotted.

I'm personally not a fan of the smoothness when it comes to films and TV (it gets that soap opera look) but when it comes to games, I couldn't care less.

Yes... I actually understand the issue... but after 60 fps, all you really get are rapidly diminishing returns.

So all these geek hardware forums with guys blathering on about how overclocking this and upgrading that resulted in an increase from 90 fps to 100 fps are really just putting time and effort into a pointless pursuit.

Agreed....until we get augmented eyes that is. ;)

Peak FPS is meaningless, what you're really need to keep in mind is the minimum FPS. That's always been something that's much more important. 30FPS is about half the time it takes to blink the eye. With no thinking, a nerve impulse can travel twice the height of an average person.

But, when you start getting down to 1/60th of a second, you aren't able to think and react quickly enough for it to make any meaningful difference.
