I just haven't been able to motivate myself to play any games I own. The idea of installing them, and then looking for the version, then looking for patches, then looking for mods, then seeing if the game runs on my computer, then seeing if I need a guide...

So I've been watching movies lately. I watched several on YouTube, but it seems 95% of their selection is bollywood or paytoview. So, know any handy movie sites? I don't need recent movies, the age doesn't matter. I do prefer eclectic movies; I don't watch blockbusters.

Netflix, Amazon, and maybe even a little Hulu.

Festival of Films has some decent ones, features (Dirty Harry, Gosford Park ,Chicago, Eraserhead), documentaries and short films. Strong indie presence as well.

Snag Films is another one, quite a large legal online film repository, actually. Its basis is almost entirely under-the-radar, low-budget indie-filmmakers, with a strong documentary slant.

As already mentioned, Hulu.

If you're into streaming more obscure-ish stuff, sounds really cool. They have all kinds of movies that sound cool (from "[url=http://www.fandor.com/films/inferno]Inferno" to "The Naked Kiss" to "J'accuse"). Plus, according to their FAQ, they give half their subscription fees to the filmmakers/distributors who provide them with movies.

I've never used it (can't afford another subscription service), but I'm incredibly intrigued by it.

Thanks for the responses guys. I guess I was remiss in not stating that I was looking for free movies to watch. Netflix charges, I believe Amazon does as well, and Hulu used to be free but charges now also. I'll look at the others in a bit.

If you like really old stuff, Archive.org has a great collection of movies, tv shows, radio dramas, etc that have lapsed into the public domain, and are thus free to download.

It's probably not for everyone, but personally I have a soft spot for serials like Quatermass and the Pit, Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (disclaimer: he doesn't actually conquer the universe), and of course The Phantom Empire, in which a troupe of singing cowboys must battle a gang of murderous scientists while fending off a secret underground empire of robot-slave-owning electro-sword-wielding monarchists who are concerned that the cowboys' radio program will become so popular that tourists will come and discover their underground base. Yes, that's really the premise of the show.

They've also got a lot of classic movies like Night of the Living Dead, At Midnight I Will Take Your Soul, and Fritz Lang's Metropolis.

And for the lover of utterly inept trash, they've got such (in)famous titles as Plan 9 From Outer Space, Manos: The Hands of Fate, and The Beast of Yucca Flats (which is mostly noteworthy for its bizarre narrator who seems to have only a vague idea of what the movie is about, and is just ad-libbing random nonsense about "scientific progress". Don't watch this one without copious quantities of alcohol at hand, folks.)

Netflix and Amazon might charge but if you're into watching movies online I can't imagine a better deal. $10 a month for all that Netflix offers a movie-lover is pennies.

Anyway, I have nothing to offer.

Hulu only charges for some, not all their movies. Their free selection is pretty eclectic, but they do have a ton of free ones. Just check the filter box for "Free."
