This has been discussed many times, and is the topic of several Requested Feature posts, but I just wanted to bring it up again. GOG really needs the ability to either (a) get a separate code for every game in a "gifted" purchase or (b) allow us to buy store credit or GOG Points (MAGOGs?). The need for this is painfully clear with the current Atari promotion.

Recently I bought 5 Atari titles for a giveaway, plus a game for myself. Those six purchases in succession triggered a phone call from my credit card company, saying there was a provisional lock and did I indeed make those purchases? I told them yes and the lock was rescinded. However, the event made clear that there is no way I can make a lot of individual buys on GOG without the same lockdown happening again.

With the Atari promotion in effect, I would happily buy $50-$100 worth of Atari titles to have as later trades or gifts with GOGnads who missed the sale. But there is no way in the seven hells I am going to go through the credit card hassles those purchase would entail. So, sale opportunity missed.

If I could make ONE purchase and get a code for each gift game, or alternately make one purchase of GOG Points and then spend those on individual gifts, this would avoid all these credit card transactions. I suspect it would be cheaper for GOG too, since they wouldn't have to cover the credit card fee on each purchase. I realise this is probably not a trivial change to implement, but I suspect it could be a lucrative one.

Thanks for reading.
Absolutely agree. Especially with the DnD sale, I was like oh man I wish I could buy 10 copies of Planescape: Torment, and 6 copies of IWD and some NWN in the same checkout to gift people. Instead it's one at a time of the same game, which yeah the banks really don't like. Always leads to awkward (sometimes hilarious) phone calls.
Agreed as well.
Absolutely support this, since I, too, had to deal with the bank blocking my payments during the sale (granted, before that I bought several game bundles - there was no apparent way to purchase all of them at once, but the lock specifically happened when I tried to get several gift codes in a row).

I think there should at least be options to:

- choose whether you want to gift your entire cart as one pack or purchase each game in it as an individual gift;
- generate multiple codes for a game when you purchase it as a gift;
- generate gift codes when you purchase the game for yourself.

Some extra checkboxes and a way to input the number of copies for each game during the purchase should do the trick.

Not sure about GOG points, but if those turn out to be easier to implement than the upgrades to the checkout page, then why not?

Nine.

Anyway, if anyone reading this thread hasn't voted yet, please do so for the greater good.

EDIT: I don't really have any opinion on in-GOG currency, but I can see your point there as well.

AlKim: Nine.
In the Dantean sense, certainly. Seven Hells is an old colloquialism, since there was a time when that sacred number seemed to accompany everything (seven seas, seven metals, indeed seven heavens).

That being said, I'm also a fan of the Thirteen Hells.

Thanks for all the support so far, I'm glad to hear that others find this beneficial.

Maybe you could try contacting support and ask them to split the codes?

I remembered they helped AnonymousGiftBot like that a couple years ago, but it was kind of an unusual case since it was a rather big giveaway.

Still, it probably should be changed. I already voted for that feature a while back though.
