The conversations and sound of the people just cut out. It was working fine. I hit Esc to pause the game for a few minutes and now then only thing I hear is footstep and fire crackling. I restarted my PC and it still didn't help. I reload older saves no help. Any Idea how to fix this and what causes it. like I hear nothing no ambient sounds music just all quiet :(

Edit reason: I forgot to name my game so sorry that was very stupid of me this is for The Witcher 2 :)

Wasn't trolling you, ne. Just asking the OP to specify as you did. I hope there wasn't any misunderstanding :D

Tried to update your sound drivers? Usually sound acting up might be the cause of corrupted drivers.

Well I don't know if that will fix it because it is a known problem that other people are having but I don't see this topic on this forum and I haven't found a solution still searching but what type of sound drivers? Please can you help provide me with a link cause I will try updating them.
Really dumb suggestion, but have you checked the game options to see if there's a box that got checked or unchecked that has turned off speech, or maybe a slider that got adjusted down to zero volume for speech?

Yes I have checked everything it just randomly cuts out all environmental noises character voices and all you can hear is combat noise.

Well, who is your soundcard manufacturer? Maybe we can then work on updating your sound drivers. Also, how much RAM are you running this game on?
My computer specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k 3.30GHz
Graphics Card: Radeon 6850 HD
Windows: Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
Memory (RAM): 8 gig ripjaws DDR3 ram.
My Power Supply: Corsair 650 WAT.

My motherboard is an Asus does this help?

Try updating the motherboard, sound, and graphics drivers. Or at least root around in the Device Manager to see what the date is on some your drivers. A lot of times the drivers for your motherboard, sound card, and graphics are already outdated at the time of purchase so it helps to update them often.

Have you updated the game to version 1.2 ?

Try setting your sound to stereo if you have 5.1 or something like that.
Well patch 1.2 was meant to fix issues with USB headsets I will try updating my motherboard drivers.

Edit: I have a logitec G35 7.1 gaming headset.
