Yup, it finally happened today. The last remnant of my old computer has died. I'm sitting here using my number pad to emulate mouse movements.

It was a first generation Logitech G500, I decided to get myself a second generation G500 (mainly because that's all I could afford on such short notice) I'm reeeaaally hoping that gets delivered tomorrow some time.

This seems to happen to me quite a lot. I start thinking "hmmm, it's about time I got a new computer/peripheral/part" and right before I'm ready to go out and purchase it, the current one up and carks it, usually leaving me to either have to get something cheap to tide me over (like my current el cheapo microsoft keyboard) or I have to end up getting something a little cheaper than what I originally envisioned.

So, has this happened to anyone else? what part died before you were ready and what did you end up replacing it with?

And now, i shall 6 and 2 my cursor to the 'post my message' button and double 5 on it. *cries*
oh crap. I've got a G500 and I live in the middle of nowhere. I hope this isn't a bug in the G500 that makes them all die on the same day, or I'm screwed.

That's funny. My G5 died on me just a couple months ago. Of course, it wasn't just a simple death. I didn't even know what was going on at first. All of my USB peripherals were just losing power for a few seconds at a time every five minutes or so (sometimes longer, sometimes shorter). I thought my motherboard was dying and bought a USB card to see if using ports separate from the motherboard would fix things. It didn't. I wasn't sure what I was going to do when it occurred to me to try a different mouse. I plugged in a backup and all problems were solved. I'm still not sure how it was shorting out all of the USB ports on its own, but it was, one very bothersome, very dead, G5...
May it rest in pieces
