"Digger Dave is the greatest archeologist that has ever lived, and he's always been able to solve his problems with righteous violence and wanton homicide. But when he digs into a labyrinthine dungeon in search of a nebulous evil presence, he finds that identifying who can be trusted is as much a challenge as avoiding death at the hands of the dungeon's bizarre monstrosities."

Down We Go is a little FPS/RPG/Roguelike adventure game I've been working on for the past few months, which I would describe as "A gradual crescendo of manic action, mistrust, and facepalming." It can be completed in around 30 minutes. It features random level generation for enhanced replayability, some funky tunes, an extremely wacky story, a variety of enemies, and just a little bit of looting.

I've submitted it to GOG, hoping they might consider distributing it along with their other free games. A long shot, but here's hoping!
Demonic bowls of ice cream, eh? I'll give it a go. Good luck with GOG! ;)

Thanks! I don't expect much given how small the game is, but it's worth a try.

Heh, seems pretty nice. Also I love the crazy music, it's hilarious. Will give it a try tomorrow.

Just wondering, is it exclusively mouse aiming? I'm not too fond of mouse aiming in these 2D shooters without vertical aiming - but, well, I'll live...
+1 for sharing your game with us. Thanks! Looks like a blast from the past
This looks quite similar to a previous game you've posted, no? Still, it's super cute and the TRAPs in the video made me laugh.

Which reminds me, I still haven't read your book yet, sorry.

edit:
Which in turns remind me of all the other stuff I haven't done.

Huh. It's not something I even considered. Sadly, it's mouse aiming only. Although there's no real reason I couldn't add in arrow key aiming I suppose.
Enemy names cracked me up

Yeah, it's visually similar, but fairly different gameplay-wise.
I made it to the end of the game earlier today. I had fun even though I wasn't very good at it and died quite a bit. I also enjoyed the music in the game. Is there any way to change the controls in the game? I normally change from WASD to ESDF and I also didn't like having to use the middle mouse button for the magic shovel.

Sadly no :(

Gamemaker isn't very nice with custom control layouts. It's possible to do with the keyboard, but things start to get more complicated when you take the mouse into account.
You can download the soundtrack on the main page now, if anyone's interested.
