Nah, we all make stupid or reckless mistakes sometimes, doesn't mean your body is decomposing around you. That's life man. :)

haydenaurion: Yep, and as I turn 30 years old in a few days (October 10th) i'm going to feel senile if that was the problem. I told my family I was getting old, but they don't believe me, lol. If this were back in my younger console days, I wouldn't have made such a silly mistake. :P
Back when I was 21 or something, I couldn't get a computer working because I had plugged the CPU_fan into CHA_fan systematically (I unplugged everything quite a few times). It took me around 4 hours to notice, and by that point I was pretty annoyed with the whole thing.

Early congratulations for the birthday. I know someone who has her birthday on the same day. She wants an "evergreen plant", but I've no idea where to buy plants. Maybe I'll pick a small spruce from a forest and put it in a flower pot..

Thank you! Sounds like you live in quite a beautiful nature oriented place. In the part of the US I live in you can trip over forests. :D

haydenaurion: I'm gonna feel like such a damn idiot if it was just because of me not plugging the power cord back in properly, but at least this idiot will have peace if mind. :P
LOL - I suggested the power cord since I run into this stuff all the time with my customers. Oh, and I did about the same thing myself last week, on a $20,000+ machine controller. Damnedest thing - the PC won't talk to the controller when the tech (ahem, me) forgets to plug in the main power connector after removing and cleaning out the controller unit. Derp. And cleaning out the unit is a whole 'nother story but that one gets pinned on the maintenance crew. Double-derp.

Yeah, i'm gonna give it another 15 or so minutes even though it's been well past the amount of time the PC took to shut down and if all is still well i'm gonna mark your post as the solution since you mentioned the power cord. Thanks everyone, I thought this was going to turn into a faulty parts crisis.

haydenaurion: I unplugged my speakers but I also found another problem, I didn't plug the power cable back into the PSU good enough, it was loose when I touched it. I'm back on my new PC now, guess well see if that was the problem.
Yeah, that's a very likely culprit right there :) Good thing to hear this problem is probably resolved, I felt pretty bad for you.
Another funny thing is that the CPU temps seem to have dropped a few degrees since correcting the cord problem, though it is a little cooler outside than it was last night but even when I turned on my air conditioning last night the temps still weren't where they should have been even though they were safe temps.

Yeah, I was in a bit of a panic over something simple.

Really there's not much to worry about over a few degrees here and there. Lots of stuff like air conditioning, weather, barometric pressure, etc. can have an effect on them from time to time, even indoors. Unless you're doing a lot of overclocking or running multiple graphics cards there's not much point in obsessing over the temperatures. Nothing in your pic is even remotely close to overheating yet.

Glad you fixed the problem, though. Mystery solved, eh?

Indeed the mystery is solved; though my temps have improved since correcting the power cable.

Had to use a semi colon there because my comma key is not working again; it did that on my old PC. Must be my keyboard.
