jefequeso: What's wrong with Mumford and Sons?
Nada, but the band has a distinctive sound and style that might not be appreciated by some. Frankly, that first album gives me the chills whenever I hear it.

Yeah, I'm not going to claim that I'm anywhere near an expert when it comes to non-orchestral music, but the songs of theirs I've heard struck me as being pretty good.

Dear Penthouse,

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT HAPPENED TO ME!!!11
Give me some credit. My mind is out of the gutter for at least 10 minutes a day :p

I was thinking more along the lines of his wife blowing his mind with videogame history knowledge.
Gee, I wish my Other would say anything about a game, other than "you spend too much time on them"! :-)

Yeah, they're good. My only real problem is that, from the snippets I heard from their second album, it doesn't really tread any new ground, it's just "More Mumford & Sons", which I already got on their first disc.
You can't go wrong with Down on the Upside.

Heh, I knew someone would think of that when I created the thread title.

Nothing at all. I love them, actually. But it's kind of 'folky'. I really like Michael Buble and Adele as well. My comment wasn't meant as a jab towards any type of music. It was more to illustrate the difference between what she likes and what I tend to listen to most often.

Huh. For some reason I could have sworn that your post said "So my wife has pretty much the stereotypical bad taste in music."

My mind is starting to play tricks on me, I guess :P

No worries. To be honest, I have a fairly eclectic taste when it comes to music (much more so than my wife), so I like pretty much everything she likes. When we sit and chat with our wine, we generally have some music playing in the background and it's almost always from her mp3 player, since most of what's on mine is stuff she just won't like.

So no, not bad taste. Just pretty much what one would assume the stereotypical female would like.
I know that feel sometimes with my girlfriend. My other friends that are girls, not so much, they are geeks.

KylieM: Heh, it just goes to show how much you think you know about a person, and then really don't! :)
avatar
Coelocanth: I would more put it that no matter how well you know a person, there's always something more to learn. Even after 16 years of marriage, one of the things we like best is sitting with a bottle of wine and chatting for a couple hours. It amazes and pleases me that we still have lots of stuff to talk about.

I do as well. I'm 48 years old, so most of the people in my age group give me funny looks when they find out I'm an avid PC gamer as well as when they find out what type of music I like (preference towards bands like Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Riverside, Rush, Jethro Tull, etc.)
DREAM THEATER!!! YES!
Nice post, we do indeed learn new everyday and God bless women.. What do they all have about Adele, that's funny though! Strong voice and romantic songs but damn, they sure share the word haha.
