There is only one way to interperate that. The German language is unavailable outside Germany, and the low-violance version is unavailable with non-German languages.

If regular-violence mode and other languages are not available then they should have had some sort of warning to avoid misleading customers.

I agree that there is only one way to interperate "2. Germany has the low violence version which is only available in German". But it was not written like that on my store pages. I will write down exactly what was written on my store pages.

"Low Violence: German low violence version only available with German language"

"German language only available in Germany. German low violence version only available with German language."

If the store pages had "2. Germany has the low violence version which is only available in German" written on them then I wouldnt of purchased the 2 games.

I'm with you 100%. Carry on nagging Steam the way other posters have suggested. Personally, if I was in that situation I'd also call my credit card company to ask for advice, but insist that they don't dispute the charge "because I'm afraid that they will deactivate everything I've previously bought from them". Maybe if enough people did that then the CCs would eventually get Valve to stop being so shady.

Essentially, Valve is using coersion to circumvent anti-fraud measures, and that goes against their merchant agreement.

And on the right side of the pages, there is a game details section. And what is written there?

"Languages: English, French, Italian, Spanish" for Titan Quest

"Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish" for Immortal Throne

"Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish" for Kane & Lynch 2 Dog Days

So I had to pay money in order to learn the hard way that the game details section can not be trusted... It makes me not want to buy anymore Steam games because there is no way to know from the store pages, what I am getting. It reminds me of gambling in Diablo 2. You dont know what something is until you buy it and then it is too late... :)

I don't see how one can interpet these 2 sentences as
1. German Language is only available in Germany
2. Germany has the low violence version which is only available in German

Whether wrong or right if you keep nagging them and keep polite about it they may just give in to shut you up. (I have a customer service background and this scenario is all too familiar)

Dont get me wrong though, it may take months of pestering, in my experience its the more stubborn person who wins, though with a company the size of Valve if it does work that way id say your chances are slim to none (you could always throw in the old "Customer is always right" thing even though we all know thats bullshit)

And please dont misunderstand me im not having a go at you but 1000 people have more combined patience than that of 1 individual (99.999999999999% of the time, im sure theres somebody out there that is just far too stubborn for the good of the whole human race)

Well it seems many people interperate English sentences their own way but I believe Steam has a duty to advertise a product in such a way, that everyone can understand what exactly they are purchasing. And in order to do that, they have to be crystal clear and not expect you to fill in the blanks because you know better from experience etc.

The trouble with DD services is when they do cave in they often get childish about it and tell you to get lost. I'm not sure if Steam have ever banned anyone for being a nuisance but I know Impulse have.

I think if I say the "Customer is always right", I will definitely be ignored. :) I will keep trying with them though but I'm not going to annoy them for months and months. If I can't get exchange those 2 games for store credit after some time, I will just see it as me going to a casino and losing some money. And of course, I will never buy another Steam game again.

Most DD's follow these rules:

1. The customer is always wrong.
2. If in doubt see rule number 1.

What about ban first, ask questions later. :P I don't know if this is really true though but I hear Steam likes to ban people.

Like I said I don't know anyone that has been banned by Steam for being a nuisance, but i'm not saying it hasn't happened. I once had my account suspended for a charge back that was incorrectly done by my credit card.

Well if they find you to be a nuissance then it isnt worth it to continue doing business with you from their point of view. And if I remember correctly, in the agreement between you and Steam, they say they can just ban you if they feel like it.

No, 2. would be interpreted as "If you play the German version it will be the low violence version." Not that Germans can get only the low violence German version.
