Sorry to resurrect this, but I just wanted to let everyone know I am selling my Macbook Pro tomorrow, and will be purchasing This on Wednesday. I am getting the X1 model instead of the A1 or A2 models. The ONLY difference I've been able to see is that it only has 1 500GB HDD instead of 2, and it doesn't come with the backpack or gaming mouse, which isn't a problem since I use a Microsoft Sidewinder and need a big backpack for the laptop and my school books.
As soon as it arrives, hopefully by Saturday or next Monday by the latest, I'll take some pics of the unboxing/setup.
good call, i just bought a g72 and it's a great machine. i think asus makes the best gaming laptops for your money, bar none.
also, i actually don't mind having less hard drive space. that way you have to finish the games you have on there before you can install a new one. my current gaming desktop has only 80 gigs because i took out the other drive, and i can only keep three or four games on it at a time.
WOOT!
Ordered the laptop this morning from Newegg for $1449. Just waiting for it to ship at this point, but I get the feeling that they won't ship it anytime today, and I don't believe UPS ground will ship on Saturdays, so I probably won't be getting it until mid/late next week.

Yes, at least of the big brands. Asus also has the lowest failure percentage with its new laptops.
However, look to Clevo or Clevo resellers for the very cream of the cream. I believe Sager is the largest Clevo reseller in the US, and their laptops are pure concentrated sex.

i wanted a clevo or sager so bad but they're all high end and just out of my price range. value-wise i couldn't beat the asus. their refurbs are ridiculously well-priced.
UPS arrived earlier today with my new laptop which I currently using as a type this. Getting used to the keyboard is always a weird feeling but i'll probably have it down in a couple of days. First game I installed on it was Crysis, and I set all settings to high with no AA and Vsync on and it ran like an absolute dream with no stutter or any kind of slow down. Installing some GOG classics on it right now as well until I get paid next week and I put Metro 2033 on here.
PICS!

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics, wasn't really much light coming into my computer room today so they aren't as clear as they could be.
I'm envious.
I was about to post about how it was dumb to buy a gaming laptop, but man, I'm envious too.
