Well, the spring in my d key has finally given up and though the key still works (it detects when pressure is applied), it is just awkward and silly and basically I need a new keyboard. This one is over 6 years old anyway.

This one right now is a Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000 and it has been good, but not perfect. The additional launch/media keys have been useful, but the F1 keys showing symbols for various actions (the F# actually being placed in small text beneath the key) has not been good as too often (when gaming in the dark) I've had to search for which is the correct F key.

As for a replacement, well, I'm not looking for a fancy super gaming keyboard, but I do want a decent quality one. I'm not into the whole ergonomic keyboards, either. Backlit keys could be a nice feature, but they aren't a requirement. Also, mechanical keyboards seem to be too expensive for what I'm looking for.

Oh, I'd be going for a wired USB keyboard.

So, any recommendations? Also, anything specific that I should be looking for?

Yyears ago i got myself Oklick 555 S keyboard and its still best one i ever had.
I use a Qpad MK-80 and think it's awesome. While I don't know if that specific keyboard is available in any UK store, I'd recommend looking for one with similar properties.

EDIT: Oh, no mechanical... sorry, can't help you then.

It is available in the UK, but it is £92 (Scan.co.uk). I wouldn't rule out mechanical keyboards, but they just tend to be really quite expensive, and considering that gaming is entertainment and that I'm not a professional gamer, I just cannot justify that kind of cost for a keyboard.

If I were to put a maximum price, well, I wouldn't want to go any higher than £50 really.

I've been using a Logitech G11 for a few years now and I love it. Not sure what the equivalent is now (I'm not even sure if the G11 is still sold), but if you can grab it on sale it would be something to consider.

Searched a couple of online shops and haven't seen a G11, but have seen a G105. Might that be today's equivalent?

So far, I've taken a look at the following. Some are edging just over the top of my max, though, so it would be shopping around for deals.

Logitech G105 Gaming Keyboard
Corsair Raptor K40 Gaming Keyboard
Corsair Raptor K50 Gaming Keyboard (probably too much, and too big, too)
Roccat Isku FX Multicolour Gaming Keyboard

Any idea on the quality of Roccat products?

Whatever keyboard you get, make sure it supports enough concurrent key presses. You don't want to be stuck with a keyboard that will only record 3 simultaneous key presses.

I wouldn't consider anything under 6.

Yeah, that's similar. The G11 has 18 programmable G (macro) keys though. But that's not really a big deal. That G105 looks good.

Sorry, but I've no insight on the Roccat products.

Tad cheaper: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/search_results.php?keywords=QPAD+gaming&_=1394673094861

Around £70 for the Q pad keyboards.

Also worth checking Overclockers for other keyboards, some can be life savers ;)

£39.99 mechanical - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-012-ZA&tool=3 (check the reviews haha)

The MK-80 is still over £90 there, so still very pricey for me. Even the MK-50s are £70 which is a little more than I was looking to pay.

Also, I had seen that Zalman in my searching but the lack of a keypad rules it out. I see what you mean about the user review though. :)
My keyboard died last month and I now have a Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming keyboard and I really Love it. It's fast, sensitive, the keys are much easier to use and the gaming lights are lit. There are other adjustable lights. It also has programmable keys. Look it up on google.
Good god, I never pay more then £25 for a keyboard. People certainly have more money then sense! :S

The best price I can find here for the G710+ is £100. That's just way too expensive for me.

My current one cost me about £25 and it has served me well for just over 6 years, so I can't really complain on that front. However, I do like to turn the lights out when gaming and the lack of backlit keys means I've sometimes pressed the wrong key at times, and the F# keys aren't well labelled on this one. As such I'm now looking at backlit keys which should help on that front, but does mean the price goes up.

Can't find that one here in the UK. I did a Google search for it and the images showed that the letters were double labelled with both English and Cyrillic. From this I would guess that this is native to Russia, which I also see is where your location is under your avatar.

Good advice that. The gaming keyboards I've looked at so far appear to be pretty standard for 6 key rollover with anti-ghosting. That Corsair K50 says full N key rollover, though, and over USB.

I'm actually getting tempted by that K50. Managed to find one going for £60 which is a little over what I was looking at paying at most, and it is a longer keyboard due to the 18 macro keys on the left, but I think if I pushed my tower and printer over a little it should just about fit on my desk.

Still going to search a little more though.

yeah, and why waste money eye glasses either - just total waste of money if you ask me.
