The Alone in the Dark series pioneered the survival horror genre back in 1992. Its sequels built on its success to create an acclaimed series and the fourth installment is no exception.

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, also known simply as Alone in the Dark 4, bears a strong resemblance to the more contemporary survival horror games which spawned after the original Alone in the Dark's release. Fans of the series are divided as to whether or not this is good or bad, but most appreciated the change. With an immersive story, bone-chilling horror atmosphere, tons of cinematics and two playable characters, letting you see the story from two perspectives, The New Nightmare is a worthy heir to the Alone in the Dark name. If you like horror games or movies, you can't possibly go wrong with this title.

ooohh....I loved this one when it came out even though it got pretty bad reviews. The only bad thing about this one is that Uwe Boll made a movie out of it :D.

The last one of these I tried (which was probably the first one) had a really annoying control system where moving left/right simply rotates the character in that direction. Does this one have the same form of movement?
I've never been comfortable using that form of movement, which is probably why I've never completed any of the original Tomb Raiders either =S.

Aww, another Adventure game, genre I don't particularly like (I don't like horror either :-p) :-/. There hasn't been any good promos or new releases (for me at least) for a while. Bring us more RPG's (no not jRPG's or ARPG's; I mean real cRPG) or TBS (not this real time shit) games! Preferably something I don't own or ever have owned ;-).
Oh well, I'm sure there are lot's of other people wanting this so it's not all bad.

I have the box version already and I can say that this game is fantastic. IF you never played this then you should buy it in first place!!

If it wasn't for the fact that I already have the Dreamcast version I would buy this one right away.
And I won't agree with Leonsito that this is the worst of the classic AitD - the third one was much worse. ;)

It hasn't changed since...two or three weeks ago? (the week with Another World + Sanitarium promo) That, or your Strategy First/Rebellion promos were total failures, since none of the games is in the top 10 bestsellers list for their respective weekends. On the other hand, the Another World + Sanitarium promo was a humongous success since both consistently occupy the first and second bestseller spot for two/three weeks.

this control system (left/right = rotate, forward = the character moves the direction he's currently looking at) is a classic in all these survival horror games and since the camera is usually looking down at you, it's the best solution... but this doesn't change the fact that The New Nightmare has a terrible way of using this system.
I really recommend original Resident Evil (1, 2, 3) or AitD games, this is just a rip-off...
and I'm kind of confused, AitD camera is pointed at some areas the player goes through, Tomb Raider had a camera stuck behind Lara's back... how is this similar?

I've noticed that the list hasn't included anything from the last 2 weekend promos (which is odd) and looks stuck at the Another World/Sanitarium week.
