The first release from TopWare Interactive expands the catalogue of real-time strategies available on GOG.com.
[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/earth_2140_trilogy]Earth 2140 is a solid, state of the art RTS, released when the genre's populaity was at its peak. It distinguished itself with impressive graphics and certain features like the "Virtual General" and a vast number of dissimilar units. The game, as the title suggests, is set in the year 2140, on an Earth ravaged by decades-long conflicts between two vast powers - the Unites Civilized States and the Eurasian Dynasty. Both empires' populations hide in underground cities and their world's past beauty is all but forgotten. The planet's natural resources are dwindling and it's up to you to decide which side controls what little is left...
I must say - be careful! Game is very addicting :D
I never truly managed to get into this game, but it does have one thing going for it: It actually did try to deliver something new to a genre that was beginning to go a bit stale already in 1997.
And its not that type of RTS which looks like: start with main building, build base, gain minerals, mass units, win mission.
In many missions you have only few units and i.e. get through enemy defenses or find missing unit or you start being attacked from every side and have to defend... What I can say is that game is NOT BORING! Missions arent repeatitive and because you have 2 missions packs, you will be sucked for a long time! :)
I remember the demo. I played it and enjoyed it. For some reason, I deleted it and went to see if the local shops (hah, small country town excuse for one) had it. Sadly they did not, and I had forgotten about it soon after.
Bonus points for all 21xx games going to be released.
The description says that due to events on Australia, no human life can survive there. 2009 now and everything (the environment, wildlife, politicians...) is out to get us here, so not that much has changed in the future...
I almost bought this one on Impulse. Now I´m glad I didn´t :)
*quiet cough* Uh... Coala or Tom or somebody on the GOG Team... there's a typo in the game description. Unless there really is a mission pack for evergreen trees. ;)
"Includes the original Earth 2140 plus the firs and the second mission packs."
Oh my god, Earth 2140 is the best realtime strategy ever made. Unfortunately, two days ago I bought a CD version, so I do not need this one, but everyone who haven't heard about this game before, I tell you, buy it!

Saw that too. Maybe it really is an evergreen expansion, like the horse armor DLC.

Yeah that does sound rather familiar really. At least they got some predictions of the future right

I noticed it, a ten years mistake. Fortunately I don´t work with time machines.
you're kidding me? GOG is getting the earth 21XX series? Are you actually trying to bankrupt me? I loved those games!
