iuliand: Today I went to a local game store in order to browse the xbox games. I have noticed something worrying, all the games are labeled as being for "PAL" consoles but the game that came bundled with my console is labeled as being for "NTSC". I don't get it, what is the importance of this while I'm connected trough HDMI to the TV set and use 1080p? And why would be this relevant for a game? It is a game after all, not a movie!?
So, the question is, are the xbox consoles built as PAL and NTSC or they are all the same? Will my console run "PAL" games sold in my area?
Unfortunately I don't have atm. any source to borrow a "PAL" game and see if it works.
edit: After some more googleing I found this:
"Just like current generation consoles, a console designed for North America (NTSC) won’t work on Europe (PAL) for the simple reason that games are region locked. So if you get an US Xbox 360, you’ll have to purchase NTSC games because those titles sold in Europe won’t work on your North American Xbox 360."
Damn! If it's true than MS screwed this up sending me a console for the wrong region.
Heya, I didn't look at your country. A lot of the Live Gold content that I was gushing about is not available outside the US (e.g. Netflix and ESPN3), fyi.
I think I read something about how PAL/NTSC worked a little different for the XBox 360, you might call support and see.
