Licurg: Why? Do you think that guy who killed a bunch of 6-year old wouldn't deserve it? Such people are not human beings, and they should not be treated as if they were.
avatar
lukaszthegreat: Oh? you start making exceptions and shit hits the fan quickly. Everyone deserves fair trail and everyone deserves to be treated with respect of his/her rights as citizen and as a human being.
So yes. he should be treated as a human being.
I didn't say such vermin shouldn't get a trial. They should, and if found guilty they should be tortured to death. Ideally, the state could sell tickets to the joyful event and donate the money to the victim's families. It would be a win-win situation.

they did that. in the past. children watched like peoples heads were chopped off, how molten iron was being poured into mouths of criminal.

it is no justice, but petty cruel revenge. It should be part of our past, our primitive past where murdering people was celebrated. You want it back? Well I am glad that you are minority because this world would so much cruel if you were majority.
Call me harsh or inhuman, but I don't think people like this deserve to "answer" for what they've done. I think the best answer is death, as quickly as possible.

Why? Why would it be so bad? You can't rehabilitate them, so why waste good money keeping them alive? And it is NOT revenge but justice, people who caused so much pain should feel at least a fraction of it themselves.

Why not improve on that idea and make it even more beneficial to society as a whole: whoever buys those tickets and finds enjoyment in other people's torture should be executed, too, until such traits are completely removed from the gene pool. How does that sound? :)

If they got turned on by such a spectacle what's to say they wont take it one step further?

If they DO take it one step further, then they become the main attraction themselves. Unless they actually do it, they're innocent. By that reasoning, they should kill most people on this forum because we all played at least a few violent video games at one point or another, so maybe we should get killed before we take it a step further...

Exactly. You see the death penalty as a way to solve a problem and that problem isn't solved until all potential threats are dealt with.

Actually, no. The death penalty is about justice. It's about something that has been done, not about a potential threat. There's a big difference.

Pheace: "The National Rifle Association pro-gun lobby issued a statement in response to the Newtown shooting, urging armed guards at the nation's schools. "

Ow good lord....
Didn't he say we need more good guys with guns? I cnd see some scenario where a noble gunman saves the day, but is far easier to picture a scenario where some self appointed hotshot escalates a situation into a blood bath.

Guns belong movies, not dragging the movies into real life.

But by all means. Let us slide into emulating the times, and places in the world where people are all walking around with a gun like it's a point of pride, and where people feel so self entitled by their own convictions and values that shooting someone isn't really all that big a deal. Lets work towards that, because that works so well.

When we reach the point where shooting people sounds like the answer to shooting people then we have problems. But hell what do I know? Maybe I just don't "get" the creepy, religious adoration people in my region have for guns. That angry, aggressive need to have MY rights protected at any cost, and the want to just plain shoot something that for messing around with MY something something, is lost on me. I probably shouldn't say that to the people at the Kansas gun range next door. The one someone got shot at not too long ago.

You know what? I've been down this road before and I have never managed to come anywhere in a discussion with someone thinking death penalty is the solve all of crimes.
I don't need the grief. Anyone else want to continue this have fun.

It's not a win-win. That kind of business take the victims down a much darker road. That kind of primal reaction changes the people involved, and makes them more like the person they were hurt buy and drags society around that kind of action backward into a place where such things happen more. It also makes it almost impossible to heal. It the worst thing people could do.
