Been looking around, but haven't found any thread on this, so on the risk of public ridicule, here it goes. A friend just passed me an article on this, but it was in Spanish, so I made a quick search for something in English to illustrate the piece of news I meant.

Quite frankly, I'm not quite interested on this. Because if it goes with facebook *which I don't use) and attempts to get everybody there play a game, it's not going to be a 'real' game. Because surprise, not everybody likes gaming. It's going to be some casual, facebook game in RV. With a required facebook account. I seriously don't give a crap about that.

That said... any of you has read "ready player one"? Something like that would be cool.

Oh, I don't expect it to actually come out. But I do take them seriously when they say that it is their goal to eventually get there. Will they make it? What would be there if they eventually do?

As I said, it reminds me of the OASIS system of the ready player one book, except it would be developed directly by the IOI. Which is quite concerning.
Hopefully they bankrupt themselves following that delusion.
one billion people
*insert doctor evil laugh here*

If I were to type out the amount of "hahaha's" I'd need to adequately describe how hard I'm laughing at this guys expectations it would take one billion lines.

First he want's to make an MMO. Lets be exceedingly generous here and give him WOW numbers of around 10,000,000. That's if it's free to play. Now, one that requires an Oculus Rift, again, being exceedly, wildly, way too generous let's give him 1,000,000. He's about 999,000,000 users off his expectations.

If they're expecting ludicrous numbers like one billion for a peripheral that I personally really like but definitely acknowledge that I'm in the minority in liking it, they're headed directly towards bankruptcy. When I read something like this I take a step back and put my money back in my wallet, wondering just how long this company will be in business and how long their peripheral will be supported by game devs.
