Man, with the games I've bought and the ones I want to get, I'm not going to finish them all before summer's end. I bought King's Bounty yesterday-- a huge time sink from what I've heard. I'm considering two strategy games from today's sale (see last post). I also plan on getting the Paradox Fantasy Pack, which has three strategy games, plus numerous expansions for each game. And there are still a few days left of sales.

What's happening to me? I've always made it a point not to have a massive backlog. At the rate I'm going, I'm going to have one that will last me until December.

Curse you, Steam, and all your awesome sales!

Taleroth: Chun-Li does have two right feet. But you can't tell about Lara's left leg (toes are hidden), so assume it's correct.

Fifeldor: Her right foot has left-foot toes. lol
OH DAMNIT

:(

I have no excuse for having purchased the King Arthur collection. And was going to pass on buying anything today. But nooooo, I ended up buying 4 games. 3 of which I've already played, 2 of those I already own. Borrowed the 3rd from a friend.

Did Risen just go from a 75% off deal to a 66% off deal?

It was apparently a cache error. I guess some of the deals yesterday leaked into today's deals. Tomb Raider games were all under $4 for a moment, too. Now only two of them are.

If you get them in the cart fast enough, they'll honor the price. After that, nope.

I'm still waiting on a 75% off of "Dive to the Titanic." Man, that game/sim looks fun!
Is CoH good story-wise? Captivating or simply amazing story?

Oh how cute, Capcom put SF IV on sale. Not Super SFIV.

If anyone wants to do a Sanctum 4 Pack, I want in.

I wouldn't say that it's captivating or amazing. More along the lines of good. It has a few constant characters who add a nice personal touch, enough that you'll at least care about them by the game's end. I also thought the ending was quite nice.

That's for the base game, though. I"m not sure about the expansions.

Is it worth spending my last penny on it? Or should I wait for end of sale?

Is certainly worth your last penny. 6.2 € for the whole is a steal

Not according to the community. Bugs, use of quicktime, lag, key mapping errors.

The trailer was great.
How's Rift? Just downloaded the trial and it seems at least decent (just got level 4). Mainly concerned with population and how it is end-game, plus I'm unaware of what the subscription fees are. Not concerned about soloability, as I assume it's fine up until level cap. (Seems like there's plenty of customisation for classes). I guess I'm tempted by it anyways... but I don't want to dedicate tonnes of time to it like I did a MMO years ago that shall go un-named. Plus I'm not really keen on subscription fees unless they're low due to cash problems.

Just looking into Rift and Risen at any rate. Downloaded the demo for Risen as well, so if anyone has any thoughts on that, they'd be welcome. I'm not sure how I'll buy either though. Depends on if I can resist spending more money.

Edit: Forgot to ask what the community's like in Rift.

Well, that's a tough question to answer. I don't know how well you like strategy games, or if you've played enough that it won't be too hard to pass on. Just know that before I played Company of Heroes, I viewed strategy games as stupid and annoying. But when I got it, I thought it was incredible, and I am now a bit more open-minded when it comes to games.

I don't know if that was any help, but it's the best that I could give.

shane-o: Thanks for your answers :D. Just bought the GW Trilogy and GW: Eye of the North for myself and will hopefully be gifting the same to my brother when he gets back to me

Bye bye life lol
I actually didn't find Guild Wars to be anywhere near as much of a time sink as other MMOs.The great thing about that game is that it can pretty much be as light or as heavy of an investment as you want it to be: there are titles, prestige armor, and rare pets/accessories to grind for if those sorts of things appeal to you. There's also incredibly good PvP; team-building can be really in-depth. But in reality (if you don't get heavily involved with a PvP guild) once you hit 20 it's pretty easy to limit yourself since there's no more level grinding or instancing for better equipment to do.

I love Rift. First time I ever did a six-month sub to an MMO. Excellent class customisation, the rifts are really fun, and there's plenty to do. They are always adding new stuff.

Can't talk about the end game, as my main is only lvl 35 (max is 50).

The in-game community is awesome. Do not go to the forums. They are a hate-filled pit of bile and venom. Whiners and people complaining that a four-month-old MMO doesn't have X feature present in a five-year-old one will give you a really bad impression. To read the forums, you would think it was an unfinished, buggy mess. It's weird - the biggest complaints always seem to be about balance. Can you think of another MMO where balance was the worst you had to worry about four months after launch?

So, yeah. I love Rift. Obviously, YMMV,
