Way back in the day in the early 90's when I was under 10, my family and I would visit a particular uncle and his family. Real cool people. He, like my father was also really into war stuff and had us watch war movies. Flight of The Intruder was a particular highlight which is still a personal favorite.

Anyhow enough of that useless rambling. They had a computer where we played an awesome side scroller. Up until ten minutes ago, I never remembered what the game was called. Then I happened to take a gander at commander Keen and sure enough, that was the game. I can now finally relive those great times. Sweet.

Commander Keen and Duke Nukem... the two platformers that won me over on the PC... enjoy reliving awesome memories!
YEESS! Commander Keen was also one of my first games!
I had no idea what the game was about, because I couldn't read english back then, but what the hell, it had aliens and lasers :p
I recently also found two classics from my childhood, Crystal Caves and Secret Agent, by Apogee. Good times!

omg crystal caves and secret agent was awesome
Jeez, Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Crystal Caves, Secret Agent... it's like someone decided to stuff all the awesome platformers from my youth into a single thread. My brother and I would take turns playing those games for hours, trying to beat each others scores... some great memories there.
Not to mention Jill of the Jungle, and Cosmos Cosmic Adventure...
Remembered playing Commander Keen with friends and my cousins, awesome days.
And this very classic turn-based game:

This Commander Keen?

Holy shit Commander Keen. Most excellent. You guys are taking me back. I fought with my brothers to play that game. So many memories. And so many bruises.

Ugh I hated Jill of the Jungle as a kid, thought it looked really ugly... or maybe I was mysogenistic as a child :p
Anyway, this thread reminds me of one of my first experiences away from those child-friendly platformers... which was Hopkins F.B.I , christ that was a punch in the face :O

I think one of the first platform games I saw on the PC was Captain Comic and Secret Agent (someone attempted a remake here http://wired.st-and.ac.uk/~wong/agent/ )

Also I know it's a lot newer, but for PC platformers I really liked Jazz Jackrabbit for it's speed and music. Know it's a lot newer than those classics.
