Gee how exactly does this burden you? Last I heard, the U.S. was the "land of the free'.

You're aware, that they could build it in an isolated region of Alaska and the right wingers most likely would still feel provoked.

I wholeheartedly agree with the consequence and turning out bad part. However, it is a rule that everybody has to apply to himself FIRST.
With that rule and staying on the 9/11issue, I remember that one time where I actually thought, that Mr. Bush could turn into a better president. It was on his first speech after the attack, where he stated that they'll find out who did it and why.
Ask yourself: did his following actions showed you, even once, that he and his administration thought about that action, consequences and turning out bad part? Did the american press pointed it out (I couldn't and haven't followed them to actually know it)?
Action, consequences and turning out bad..... yes, the world would be a much better place, if everybody would consider them from time to time....

9/11 is the reason Bush and the pupeteers behind his back are able to strenghen their grip on the government and causing an unjustified war based on obvious lies.
My problem in four words: more propaganda for the Republicans.
You want another Bush or Palin? I don't, but this is provoking it. I learned from history well enough that throwing salt into the wounds is always a dumb move, doesn't matter from which side.

Funny, we have so many threads about political and religious news, and now you tell me not to post it here?
GoG.com should themself decide to tollerate threads about political-religious-philsophical matters, they can even ban me for all I care, however I still have a right to express an opinion without getting attacked by sharks.
Do I say "Death to Islam"? Did I say "Bush was right?" or making rascist sentences against muslims?
No I don't because I tollerate the Islam. But even tollerance has a crossing line, and I rather say that no one should take it too far provoking the patience of others. We learned that enough from history itself....

There are not enough of these fanatics to cause a real problem for the US or the world.
McCarthy failed, and so shall these Republican zealots.
In general, the US is a tolerant place, there's just quite a few vocal nutters who haven't been told to shut up yet.
I say, let them build a mosque. Let those who are against it rant. It changes nothing.
Those who rant against this mosque, that you worry so much about, would only rant about other buildings, people or sayings if this was prevented.
Those who wish to build this mosque would only build it slightly further away if it is prevented.
There are obviously enough Muslims in New York to desire such a building...
Almost all religion is either doomed or perverted anyway. Few follow those laws they claim to uphold.

Tantirx, first of all, aren't you from Germany? How is a mosque on or near Ground Zero any concern of yours? Second of all, you are being quite hysterical about the possible effects of a mosque being located there. The building of a mosque will lead to a new Bush era? Please, mosques are built all over the US all the time and no one cares. Just as much as they don't care when a new church, synagogue, temple or whatever is built. They just built a mega-mosque down the street from my house a few months ago, it is actually quite beautiful (puts the Christian mega-church across town to shame). The only reason anyone cares about this particular mosque is because a few conservative idiots are trying to make an issue out of it where one does not actually exist. These are people who have forgotten that this country was founded on the principles of freedom, in particular religious freedom. The rest of us still do remember that and don't have any problems with a mosque being built there. I honestly care more about the fact that the skyscraper they plan on building on Ground Zero is butt-ugly.

Original post makes no sense. All Muslims are not extremist terrorists.
