Makes you wonder if even the 60/40 digital/retail estimate is accurate. Link
Paradox is mainly a publisher of niche, hardcore strategy games, so their numbers can be a wee bit skewed to the digital side.

indeed. i think i saw EU2 in aussie shop once. and HOI3 was there too...

for a short while tough.

niche markets, indie games do sell more games via steam, d2d etc than in shops which often do not stack those titles up.
Don't forget Gamersgate, their formerly own shop. I'm sure with the success of Gamersgate the sales for the Paradox games also went up. I personally didn't really know about Paradox games before I heard about Gamersgate.

I love their games and I love Paradox. But ffs, I don't appreciate reading a 90-100 page small print Hearts of Iron manual on the screen! Even a small wall of text hurts my eyes terribly.
Hope they reserve retail copies like what Telltale does. You order the game digitally, then download it digitally, and it you want the box and DVD, ask for them to ship it over.

print it. 100 pages should not cost more than 5 bucks...
Many paradox games now are published only digitally. No wonder why, because they have fans all over the world, but in any country, there are not many of them.

So, distributing boxed copies would be expensive and rather not profitable.
I love their niche sim games. Very entertaining. This isn't surprising but thanks OP for the link.

Yeap, looking for shops, worse come to worse. Would very much get the retail version with the manual and not have the trouble of going around print shops.

there is a problem tough...

manual will be outdated even without patching the game. that's the beauty and curse of how paradox releases its big complicated games.

wiki's and forums and youtube videos are better to learn how to play their games. i watched almost 2 hours of videso just to learn user interface for EU3.

I played 2 campaigns of HOI2, read the HOI3 manual and some of the strategy guide to know how to play HOI3 lol, and STILL I don't understand how some stuff works, though I have completed successful campaigns in HOI3 but as the US, which normally always wins.

There's also the strategy guide they normally provide in PDF once you register the game on their site. Good source to learn too, but that's another 70-100 pages.
valves sales are almost 100% digital, what does this say except that they dont offer anything useful outside of Steam?

I've never red the f****** HoI3 manual, but I played the ingame tutorial and was totally confused becaused there almost nothing is explained, but with help of the online HoI3 wiki and a good friend who answered all my questions patiently I finally got the hang of it and loved it. Conquering Eastern Europe with Romania was a lot of fun.

You're expecting Valve brand toasters, maybe?

Yes, aslong they look like this.

But Id be happy already if Valve would offer their games at Retail, as they either dont do this now or you have to use steam anyway. No useful alternative to a "digital sale" - which makes such statistics pointless.
