orcishgamer: Problems with Paypal are by no means uncommon. They screw people with impunity and if it wasn't for the fact that eBay owns them and can force folks to use them, no one would.
That certainly used to be true. But a lot of other people outside eBay's decaying influence are now using it as the only means of payment.

In theory it's a very convenient means of payment. But the people behind it and their policies clearly aren't trustworthy.

Not to mention the simple fact is, even if PayPal never came into being and was not involved with eBay, someone still would have created a PayPal-like service that would be the source of these kinds of complaints. The service is just too convenient for internet-based transactions for someone to not have come up with it eventually.

This paysafecard thingie is currently coming up and could become the new alternative to CC and paypal. Heck, even Steam is already using it:

Too bad it's only Europe based.

Yes, a Paypal of some kind would have come into existence, but it might not have been run by folks from the evil goatee dimension and screw nearly every single account holder over at least once.
