That doens't work for me, on Conflict Desert Storm I still see the shitty on liners, even though better ones have higher votes.
Maybe the reviews order is not updated in the real time

I think you're right. I remember when Super Frog came out, there was one that said it didn't work even though GOG QA said it did, it was downvoted but it took a little while for it to get off the front page. It's definitely off of there now.

The helpful/not helpful mechanic has never worked quite right or at least has never worked efficiently enough to prevent the damage these early pointless reviews cause, though it could be argued that it works well enough to un-do that damage. GOG has always said that it works exactly as it is supposed to, but if that is the case, then it is a poorly designed system. It's a delayed reactive system instead of a real-time proactive system.

Hawk52: There's been a lot of hostility on this site for some reason. I'm not sure why. People getting pissed off that games don't have X feature, that GOG isn't releasing X game, that the sale structure sucks, and even posters going after each other over issues related to GOG in some ideological issue.

It's really weird and disheartening to see.
Many people are afraid of the publishers or DRM or the market ruining GOG. Me? I think GOG has more to fear from the rising fickleness and self-importance of its own customers than unscrupulous publishers or thorny IP rights. This latest problem with Conflict: Desert Storm is further proof of Why We Can't Have Nice Things.
two thumbs up to the OP.

these forums have lacked sanity lately.

GoG staff should just tie reviewing to ownership. only if you bought the game you'd like to review on GoG should you be able to review it. that would solve a lot of problems. both Steam and GamersGate do that.
I had all of the Conflict games on PS2 and used to maniacally play them between 2002 and 2007. I must have finished each and every one of them (there were 4 games if I remember right) at least 4 times and they were very enjoyable. Sure they had problems and they looked way behind in terms of graphics, but the gameplay was solid and they were rarely cheap in terms of difficulty (in fact Vietnam was the hardest because of a few memorable bottleneck situations where you're up against tanks without being able to outflank them).

I was searching a few weeks ago for a complete edition that was released a couple of years back, but had no luck finding it. I'm happy the first game is here, I hope all of them arrive, and I hope GOG will implement a bundle price for such releases soon.

I kind of hope GOG don’t pay these people too much attention. GOG is really great services and defiantly one of the best digital distributors around right now. They’ve only done goofed properly once, everything else has been small potatoes, or something they had limited control of.

I agree with OP

The game may not be my cup of tea but if someone else had good times with it - why not release it here?

I'm scared now that because of these people we might not get other supposedly "Bad games" that many other people enjoyed like Duke Nukem Forever because of it's "Bad reviews"

Or Mass Effect 3, that some people dismiss before it's even released.

Damn right I'm gonna dismiss it, I'm not even thinking about buying it until they release a "GOTY" edition with all of the hundreds dollars worth of DLC that will be there, EA and Bioware are out of their minds

Why I think the game is going to be bad I already explained in my thread, if you want to continue this conversation: Post there instead of here
