You have to create an account to vote? No thank you, there are better ways to spread the word of GOG that don't involve giving my info to an obvious advertising spam site.

slickdeals is a site where regular people post information on good sales that they find. you never have to receive an email from them. i think the only paid advertising on the whole site is that banner at the top of the home page that is usually part of a contest.

fine, let Steam get all the free publicity on the websites that cater to people who love buying things cheap. yes i bet Steam *hates* being on slickdeals front page every time they have a sale!

Uh, moron, this is a classy community. We don't call people morons here. Except maybe Bobby Kotick.

And possibly certain people trying to get a rep increase out of other people. Possibly.

EDIT: Very sneaky edit there. I saw that. Don't think I didn't.

Wow, you really don't know much about the site you are pushing, do you:

http://slickdeals.net/blog/index.php/advertising-opportunities/

That is the spam side of their business. They get people like you to sign up for the arguably well-intentioned "social" side of the site, then sell their demographic and user information to advertisers, who then spam users and the Slickdeals forums with targeted advertising. You might as well be looking at nothing more than the "sponsored links" in a Google search.
sorry, i wasn't trying to be sneaky i was just trying not to be rude - so that's why i edited it immediately. you had to have seen it or else you wouldn't have been able to comment about it.

all i can say is that i never receive any email from them and i haven't given them any personal information - fake name, born jan 1 2005 etc...

it is nothing like the sponsored pages on google. i've been using
"hot deals" websites (such as slickdeals, fatwallet, hardforums, anandtech, cheapassgamer) for years and it's nothing but people posting sales they've seen in the papers and many times unadvertised sales such as clearances.

Yeah, they know nothing about me other than an aliased email address and whatever I choose to post to their site. If they have cross scripting arrangements with Amazon they may know some more about me but I think this kind of thing is limited to Beacon stuff and I disallow third party scripts.

Besides, advertising a popular game that cannot be found for sale anymore is a slickdeal. I can see why it was posted.
