Newbie question that I hope someone can help me with:

Are GOG's games playable on a Mac using a wrapping program such as Wineskin? Has anyone tried this before?

I used to have a Windows computer until not too long ago, and there aren't any plans to buy a new one. It would really be awesome if I the games can run using Wineskin!
Wineskin?

Don't you just mean WINE?
Oops, should have made the question a little clearer:

It's WINE, but a number of these games have wrappers downloadable from this place called Wineskin that makes them.

However, I've so far been able to make Wineskin's wrappers work with the CD versions of the games, and I'm not sure if the download versions of these same games from GOG works as well.

Of course, if you've managed to get any of these games to work using WINE or any of the other spinoff applications that are created based on WINE, that would be amazing.
As a rule of thumb, the games on GoG do work on wine and products that use it. They usually run better than or the same as the old versions you might have on disk.

Here are a few gog mixes that list games which were tested

Note: PlayOnLinux has a Mac OS X twin called PlayOnMac.

So, to get games working you can use:

*plain wine (not recommended for newbies)
*Wineskin (free)
*PlayOnMac (free)
*CrossOver (trialware)

I have an extensive tutorial that covers most of the usage cases for Windows GOG games on OS X here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_games_on_mac_os_x_a_how_to/page1 - it covers using CrossOver, Wineskin, DOSBox, and source ports (when available) to play GOG titles for Windows on a Mac.

There's also a series of articles called "Crossing Over" that offers some in-depth discussion on noteworthy GOG games on OS X as well: http://www.insidemacgames.com/features/

If you're looking for some games to pick up and play, SiN Gold, Red Faction, Red Faction 2, Etherlords 1 and 2, Sacred Gold, and Earth 2160 have all worked out of the box on my Mac through Wineskin.

Before you buy though, make sure you check to see if a game works on Wine by checking the Wine Application Database, the CrossOver Compatibility Centre, and the PortingTeam forums.
Thank you both so much for your help!

Am reading up on the reference sources you've linked to and they are awesome. :)

Really happy to know that GOG's titles work with WINE, looking forward to buying some games this weekend!
