I was over at Best Buy last night and they had a playstation monitor on display. I'm not really a console player, but my first thought is, what about your TV? Anyway, it had a couple of glasses with it, so I tried them on, but nothing. Then I watched the little video playing.

Apparently it's designed so that if you play a 2 player game, instead of split screening, each player will see a full screen of just his POV. I guess it's like 3D, but instead of polarizing each eye, each player is polarized to an image.

Interesting piece of tech.
