Navagon: I'm up for some coop sometime. I don't have a mic though. That might be a problem.
I don't have a mic either, so perhaps we can try to arrange sommat over a weekend? PM me over on Didimatic if you want to share Steam friend details, etc.

Also, just tried the split screen stuff here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1847904

And it does actually appear to work (with one player using a controller) which leaves me wondering why local split-screen co-op was never offered properly.

Sure thing! Anything from an hour and a half from now onwards is good for me. I'm sure we can muddle our way through it.

Monday should be pretty clear too, I think.

Cool. Just need to find a good time of day for both of us. IIRC 4pm for you is midnight for me. And I should be available till around 2am.

Got your friend invite by the way and added you =)
Damn. Am I the only gamer who doesn't own this game?

It's so... hard to be one. Not being able to afford it atm, I have to dodge pretty much every website and forum. Portal 2 review! Portal 2 playthrough! 'Am I doing this Portal 2 level right?'.

It's like the whole world is trying to punish me for my lack of moneyz.

>:-/

How's Portal 2, btw?

It's amazing. Much more to it than the first one without suffering from feature overkill. Pretty carefully balanced and clever. The coop is a lot of fun too. The source engine is on top form too. Well, the levels still aren't that largel I suppose. But that's a minor gripe for this kind of game.

Nice portalling with you, Bansama. Looking forward to concluding our coop tomorrow.

Yeah, you need this game.

Gersen: On the opposite I personally think that this is one of those games where a mic is a must have. The marker system is fine for the first 2-3 hours but some of the later puzzle requires more complex sequence between the two player and also requires some tight synchronization. It's most probably doable using only text messages but it will be definitely a lot less "comfortable".
My partner also doesn't have one, and by now we have all the achievements,
except for iron grip (where a mic doesn't help) four ring circus (where it's not needed),
and triple crown.
It really is ok, but yes it may make it more comfortable.

Navagon: How do you know it's a DRM issue and not just something that crackers fixed that had nothing to do with DRM? I'm not saying that it's not a superior version (at least for you) but you might be wrong about it being DRM-related.
I wasn't aware crackers were particularly bothered about anything aside from cracking the DRM, especially when they get the crack out ~30 minutes after pre-download (as far as I can tell) :)

But true, it could have nothing to do with DRM.. still, the pirate version (which I haven't gotten, I'm just going to wait for the official patch) works and the official one doesn't.

A lot of crackers claim they do it for the challenge. I have heard of other instances of cracked versions including bug fixes. But I doubt it's commonplace.

Oh yeah. That was sure fun. First time I've tried co-op in anything. Worked out nicely until the end where I was sleeping at the keyboard ;) Really didn't intend to keep playing till 4am.

The only downer is that once we've completed it once, what's left to do? =(
