Portas Aurora: Arrival
Portas Aurora: Arrival is the blending of EV: Nova's Story, Master of Origin 2's Combat, and Final Fantasy Tactics Character System.
Portas Aurora: Arrival is a science fiction role playing game set in the distant galaxy of Luxvatio. Players take control of a newly commissioned Officer in the Galactic Senate Navy. As an Officer in the Galactic Senate Navy you will be challenged daily to maintain the balance between Peace and the defense of Luxvatio. Pressures from both allies and enemies will shape the course of events, what your effect on the future will be up to you.
Sounds too promising, I don't trust it. xP

Couldn't help but notice your username :) Are you in the team making the game?

Yes. I did not want to hide the fact that I am part of the developer team. We are in the last week and really have not been shown any love. A friend told me to throw it on here and see what people think.

Well, the concept seems interesting. Do you plan to sell it on GOG?

Short Answer: Yes.
We want to make it available in as many methods as possible and after learning about GOG from a Total Biscuit video we want to make the game available here too.

Well, saying on the Kickstarter page that you intend to sell it on GOG might bring some new backers to it. Or did I miss it ? :)
No you did not miss it. I will go add it now. However, where would you suggest it to be placed? In the FAQ or else where?

Probably in the FAQ. But do specify if you have or haven't started negotiations with GOG,and if you have at what stage they are, so no one accuses you of false advertising.
Good point I was just writing that into the FAQ, :)
Hey welcome to the GOG forums. Sorry to hear the project isn't going too well. Anyway, this does look p. good. I'll post on the Codex later to spread the word.

One thing though, while the combat looks sweet, I think the space background, interface and effects could do with a lot more work. Also, should this first pitch fail, on your next pitch, you should also try to expand a little more on what you can do outside of combat, especially the 4X part. For a game like this, talking about the 4X portion is very important.

The pitch video is a bit vague in what it's trying to show, and even reading through the rest of the page doesn't offer me a lot of information beyond the general outline of the game. You'll be going up against other 4X games in the market right now, so you'll need to tell your audience what sets it apart from the competition, instead of "Explore a new galaxy", "Assign Crew" or "Build Connections". For a KS project like that, I would much rather hear the developer elaborate on each gameplay aspect, than to have rock music and vague descriptions in a video that's fun to watch, but unhelpful to the potential backer. Don't worry about showing off lots of in-game text and strategical elements in this case.

All the best in your project!

Speaking of games made with limited resources, have you ever played Sacrifice? It was made by a core team of just 4 people, and with less money than many Kickstarter games, but is one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of gaming, maybe you should play it for inspiration :P

First of all - it's too late. Next time you try Kickstarter, you need to post such threads first day. RPS need to write about your game (maybe I missed it, but I check Kickstarter Ketchup, and didn't notice your game). People need to know about it at the beginning of the kickstarter, not find out about it in the last week.

About the game being available on gog.com - it's not my business (but GOGs), but I really doubt you would make a deal. GOG rejected Xenonauts, because they (GOG) thought it won't sell well at 20$.

FAQ has been updated on the page. Thank you for the idea.

@lowyhong Thank you for the comments. We very recently converted the GUI to a new color and edit the narration out until we could fix some editing.

We are not giving up, even if it takes us a few weeks to regroup and launch on Kickstarter again. We did make it on Katchup (Sept 15th) after 2 weeks of emailing, but did not get a good review.
Sadly we did not know about this site until early this morning.

This is interesting we still need to do some more homework and begin the process of talking to GOG.

+1. You can't just put up a KS and expect to gain overnight popularity without first doing some work and research beforehand. With developers like Obsidian, they already have a healthy pedigree in the industry. Instead, look to successful games like FTL and Xenonauts, and see how they managed to garner that much popularity.

I don't claim to know how to do it any better, but yeah. That's sort of the hard reality of it when you want a successful KS pitch.
