I'm using a Staples Rebate Card to do this. I'm sure I'm entering the numbers, expiration date, and my name properly, but it still claims the purchase was rejected. Given that I have more than $45 on this card, and the target (Master of Magic) only costs $6, I doubt it's a hold problem. Are gift/rebate cards simply barred for purchase for some reason? I know my browser isn't the problem, seeing how I successfully purchased HoMM3 via my normal credit card.

i expect it is the prepaid card.

try transfering the cash to paypal and using that method if possible

Quite a few (if not all) the prepaid cards in the US can only be used for US purchases. Since GOG is (financially) set up in Cyprus, it counts as an international transaction, thus your bank automatically rejects it.
I think you should be able to buy through steam, thus I'd suggest trying your luck in the classifieds thread, but since you are a new member you'll probably have to send first.
There are quite a few members from the US, maybe they can suggest a pre-paid card that works with GOG for you.

The US banking system hates this site sometimes. They just don't wanna send money to a company based on Cyprus I guess.
What everyone else already said.
