It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

EckoShy: Awesome! Thank you everyone for the help. I went and got the Foxit Reader that Maighstir linked, set it as the default PDF Reader and now the file opens without a problem.

And yes, before you all die of shock, I did not already have a PDF Reader of any kind and I've never even heard of them before. To be perfectly honest I don't do much on my PC except browse the internet and play video games, so I'm kind of lost when it comes to the more technical side of things.
You seem to be doing alright from what I've read.

I mean, sure, asking the wrong question and confusing everyone was a mistake, but those happen to everyone. Also, ever since Windows Me (Windows 98 Plus!, really, but Me had it from the start), Windows have been able to extract zip files without third-party software.

More confusing to me is what brand of machine you bought where the manufacturer didn't see fit to install even Adobe Reader - it and several hundred other pieces of software are just about always preinstalled for no good reason (and usually old versions as well). I'll put that company a lot higher on my "preferable companies to buy computers from" list.

Well okay, I'm not completely lost when it comes to technical stuff. I just don't have a lot of experience in that area, especially when it comes to software.

And I didn't buy my computer, I custom built it with a lot of help from a tech forum for picking out parts and then an online guide to learn how to put it all together. That would be why I don't have any of that stuff, because my OS was a brand new and clean install.

No harm. You can't know about something you've never heard of. Glad you got that sorted out!
