Hi, So a couple of years ago I downloaded Theme Hospital, Empire Earth and Rollercoaster Tycoon from GOG and they played fine on my old windows 7 laptop. I now have a Windows 8 laptop and remembered that I had those old games so I moved the three set up files onto my new laptop and installed them and now I'm having trouble playing them. Theme Hospital runs really slow and the music hangs and voices sound crackly, Rollercoaster Tycoon wont start at all, All it says is that "RCT.exe cannot be started" and Empire Earth runs okay but the mouse cursor is a bit laggy. Doses anyone else have these problems and does anyone know how to fix them?
The first thing you should try, is redownloading them. If the setups are several years old, they won't be optimised for Windows 8 at all.
Have you looked through the games' subforums?

A quick glance suggests that there are a few RCT Win8 threads, such as http://www.gog.com/forum/rollercoaster_tycoon_series/rct1_windows_8_wont_work_ive_tried_it_all

...and that TH's speed might not be a Win8-specific problem if http://www.gog.com/forum/theme_hospital/sluggish_performance is the same issue.

I don't have my old account with those games on, Do I need to buy them again?

Yeah because that's where you would find your game installers :] I suggest contacting support if you've forgotten your account password etc.

Also, I play on win 8, and I basically don't buy any GOGs which don't explicitly say that they work on win 8 on the store page- always check compatibility, esp. if you're a win 8 user.

However, some games can work on win 8 w/o explicitly mentioning compatibility; I suggest checking the game subforums and searching for "windows 8" or whatever your problem might be.

Why not? If you have forgotten the password, maybe contact the support?

If your Win8 laptop is different PC than your earlier Win7 PC, then your problems may be something else than the OS. Could be different hardware, drivers and stuff.

Would already released games get Windows 8 compatibility later on? Because I've been thinking about buying the worms games since they are on sale but Worms 2 doesn't say windows 8.

It's possible, but I wouldn't rely on it.

Like Leroux said, it's possible but don't be sure that it will absolutely happen. Also, if it wasn't clear, definitely contact support about your previous account- that's where you previously bought games are stored, you don't need to buy them again if you can access your old account. Hope it works out, good luck.
