I was just wondering if I was purchasing the game for multiple downloads? Mostly because I'd love to put a game on both my laptop and my desktop so I can game-on-the-go or on my larger screen when at home.

Thank you for your time, and I apologize in advance if this is listed somewhere painfully obvious. I looked around for a while before posting.
Yes, it's possible with most games to do that. Some even feature "cloud saving", which saves your data across multiple computers (but it also saves configuration settings, which might be a problem if your main PC is a beast and your laptop... isn't.) The only real limitation that Steam has is that you can only log in one computer at a time. You have to log off one system to play in another.

But you can't do that with some games because they're got stupid hardware activation limits. Those games will likely not even run on your laptop though.

Thank you very much! Nah, I'm not interested in games that are really demanding. Mostly i'm just after things like Baldur's gate and the Total Annihilation games.

Oh, wait a sec! I thought you were asking about Steam!

Nah, GOG doesn't have any such limits, you can install the game on as many computers as you like and there's no limits at all on when and where you can play them. But the GOG folks don't like it when their games are installed on computers owned by people that didn't pay for the games or receive them as gifts... so legally, and according to the sale agreement (I think) you can only install them on the machines you own or use.

i guess gog has the better deal for these games, plus you don't have to be online when playing plus you can install the games on all your machines. ( yeah I know steam has offline mode but sometimes it tries to connect back to net and screwes itself :( )
Ah, I can see where my wording is a little screwy.

I've got no problem paying for the game (probably will buy two copies, one for me and one for my bro) but I'm really happy to hear I'll be able to put my copy on both of my computers. I don't really NEED to game while at work/school, but it certainly makes my breaks more enjoyable.

Download any GOG game and its yours to do with as you please forever. Put it on every PC you use and there is no problem.
Just be aware that unlike some games on Steam, GOG games do NOT have cloud saving. So you'll have to manually transfer progress between PCs if you wish to play the same save on multiple PCs.
