Hi All, I was just wondering if there is anyone in this community using GoG products on a Mac. I was thinking of trying it with Crossover, and I figured I would try GoG's free games to see if they work. I tried to download ultima IV today, but my OS said it couldn't recognize the address.

At any rate, any suggestions about how mac gamers get GoG to work on their system would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a GOGmix of games I've gotten to work successfully here: http://www.gog.com/en/mix/mac_friendly_gog_games_4 as a warning though the GOGmix feature seems to be even more broken than it originally was, so it may act weird.

I also have a tutorial which I made which is also available here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/gog_games_on_mac_os_x_a_how_to

To keep things succinct, if you want a "zero config" game which works in apps like CrossOver or Wineskin, HoMM III, Heroes Chronicles, Baldur's Gate II, and Icewind Dale all work out of the box (though in the case of the latter two, the use of mods is highly recommended).

For Ultima IV, you can just follow the steps I outlined in my tutorial; you can then get the data files to work with xu4, an open source crossplatform binary for Ultima IV.

rampancy covers this in his thread, but to put this here as well:

Many of the (older) GOG games are DOSBox and ScummVM games which also work pretty much right out of the box, especially with GOG's pre-made config files. The only trick is getting the game files out of GOG's .exe installer which is pretty easy with Wineskin/CrossOver (i.e. simply run GOG's installer using Wineskin/CrossOver and then pull the game's files out of the Wineskin or CrossOver bottle). Once you've done that, simply use Boxer for DOSBox games and ScummVM-OS X for ScummVM games. Most games if not all should work right out of the box and be very easy to install/play once you have the game folder (some don't even need to be installed a second time and you can just drag the game folder to the appropriate place).
Thanks for the help all ;) esp rampancy with the mac friendly games list
