lowyhong: I already bought it off GG, but I may consider getting the games on CD in the near future.

With Christmas approaching, I think I will wait to see if there will be a sale on the items. Last year they had a sale and I nearly bought them then, but realized at the last moment there were DRMed.
OK, here is Spiderweb's reply.

The CDs do have full versions of the game that don't require anything
special to be installed.
If you download a demo and look at the title screen, you will see a
number marked 'registration code'. If you needed to unlock the demo,
you would send us that number and we would send back a different
number, which you would type into the box that's under "Register
Copy," also on the title screen. It's pretty simple, but does have the
downside of waiting on us to reply.
You can also back up saved games to a CD if you don't want them taking
up space on your hard drive.

I seem to clearer on the CD version of he game, but not a lot clearer on the DRM on the downloaded version of the game.
This is the email I got:

We have a simple numeric key. When you place the order, you include the numeric code from the demo, and we e-mail back the unlock key. If you need a new key for some reason, there is no charge.
Also, if you opt to get the CD, the full version of the game will be on it, no codes or anything.

So I guess the CDs wont have DRM. Cool stuff, although one has to wonder why. I mean, you could just buy it on CD and still pirate the game anyway.

I read that to mean the CD has no protection whatsoever: "no codes or anything" suggests that to me, anyway.
At this point I think I will wait for a sale; hopefully like last year about 25% off, and then I will likely buy the Geneforge series; on CD of course!

Spiderweb had a sale? Man if I had known that I would've bought the Geneforge series.

I wrote Spiderweb and asked if it will take place again this year; I will let you know the result.

Thanks! Hopefully they are.

Well, it is not as large of sale as I hoped, but here is the response. For how old a lot of these titles are a greater percentage off would be fitting.

Our annual sales are usually 10%. We might have a sale next month for
our 15th birthday.

That is it; I hope it helps.
Thanks a lot Faithful! I'll be keeping an eye out on their website.
